If the motor shaft is in line with the pivot point of the swing arm then your chain tension problems are entirely caused by the side motion of the swing arm. Have you considered just adding some diagonal bracing to the swing arm and the frame? Much simpler than starting over.

okay thx i think this is probably what i am going to try
one other thing doesit matter that the engine might be tilted a little becasue the suspension has to start angled

well the problem is that it isnt aligned with the pivot point which means i would have to move the mounting plate to get it aligned
also it isnt a huge probelm that it isnt aligned because the chain tensoner works kinda its more of the fact that the chain is so long that the little bit of sideways movment of the swingarm is causing it to fall off on turns. and then sometimes it would like skip a link and the chain will clunk
i feel like by doing thisi couldtake away thathuge amount of chain and make itmore simple so idont have to work with trying to keep it on there.

IDK if you think it would be easier to just try to fix it with what i have.... if you could give a few tips
greatly appreciate

i want to do this but with a ball joint on the rear suspension for universal movement.

Then you need to check the following threads out

I need to point something out- If you intend to have the engine mounted ON the rear suspension, you're okay, but if you're thinking you can isolate it and still have your suspension articulate, forget it. You cannot do that with chain drive, you'd have to convert to shaft.

Couldnt a jackshaft help with that? Some minibike with rear suspension have a jackshaft that doubles as the pivot point?

does it matter if the engine is leaning a little sideways do to the fat that i will start the suspension kind of angled to give it more movment??? (if this makes sense):):)

As long as you keep a good level of oil in the thing, it shouldn't be a problem.

And depending on how steep the angle is, you may want to put a little extra oil in the thing.

well got the back cut off ordered the parts i am probably going to the back something like the Arachnid.

I mean i know there probably were other ways i could have fixed but the long chain just kept becoming a problem in many ways so i think this will fix all my problems

finished the entire backend!!!!!!! attached motor and everything :) will probably be able to drive this weekend. I wait YAAAA will post pics later
also fixed the front steering so the spindle arms face backwards so that i can use bumb steer to help get the shocks to rebound after compressing. will post pics of that to :)
also bought some nice lights for it :):):)

nice! looking at this, it reminds me of a scaled down version of the winder. single a-arms, rear swing arm, same general frame shape.

we going to get a video of this thing flying around? :D

if you look at Tmans karts( under the for sale section) he helped (made a video):) explaining why my shocks werent rebounding after they compressed. what he showed me was with my spindles the A arm that the tie rod attaches to was facing foward, so when the suspension kicked in and the a arm compressed... causing both tires to actually turn opposite directions. so with the spindles fliped around and the tie rods attached at a differnet point this causes the tires to both go inward as the suspension kicks and the a arm compresses.... this leads to the tires pushing against each other wich helps the shock to rebound to their original position so what i mean is i am using bumb steer to help the shocks rebound

Sorry i am knew to alot of these terms like Bumb steer
i hope this makes sense
if you watch Tmans video on the front suspension on his a kart he talks abount this exact thing so anyway cant wait to drive this thing :)

thx man
it looked alot cooler with the actual dirt devil rear swing arm...
it looked a lot sleaker andcooler, but i was sick of having to deal with a SUPER long chain that wasnt working (+ i also welded the engine mounting plate wrong) but anyways this makes it a little simpler.... but was cooler if it still had dirt devil back end

and i need to paint it just cant get the paint to work grrrrr
