Well, the one you bought is probably different from the one I want to get. But anywhoo, thanks for the warning.

What about buying a older model iPhone for recording? I had a 5s up until a few months ago and it took dang good video. Just turn it sideways before starting recording and it will be the correct orientation.

battery latch: 3d printer is what I'm saying....
many battery latches are even available as printable 3d files on the internet,
warm up the printer and boom replacement part!

chinese can (and sometimes do) fake reviews.. all that's needed is a few hundred user accounts
and they certainly have that.. I bought a dash cam (seller had 19k reviews 98+% satisfaction)
sent the most crappy piece of dirt you could imagine..
it wasn't even dense enough to be a paperweight..
it went in the bin on day four (after some back and forth and a paypal dispute)
Seller has been removed from ebay by now.. (why oh why would that happen?)

So yeah.. careful with bargain deals.
if it's too good to be true.. it's in fact not as good or not as true ;)

A buddy of mine has one of those chinese gopro clones with a ton of accessories
(head, chest and bike mounts, underwater case and whatnot)
(allegedly 1080p *cough*) IIRC he paid 50 bucks
imagequality is okay on a sunny day but
terrible with less than studio quality artificial lighting..
audio quality I'd call decent.
Nothing you could use in your garage I'd say...
for some fun in the sun it's cool.
Anyone's phone makes as good or better videos though :D

Update:Yard Kart Resto Pt. 2: IT LIVES!!! 33 Yr. old engine fires! | And literal fire

Yes, IT LIVES!!!!!:wai::wai::wai::2guns::2guns::2guns: :bannana::bannana:
The carb leaks bad and it leaks oil when it runs(I think the sidecover gasket is done) but it fires finally.
I have the parts I think I need to fix the carb, I just need to find the time to work on it.
I did have a small gas vapor fire, but, I didn't get hurt, and it may just boost my view count.
Aaaaand, here's the Kartssource video you were expecting(Yes it's still 4:3 format, but it's the best I can do): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QlRsrhAG2g

Hello Mr; Speed
I thought I would take time out from my build and give you some inspiration. I watched your U-tube and that was cool, you have to have a mechanical desire and you certainly have that.:thumbsup:

Thanks!
Yes I definitely have safety 1st. Even though my kart isn't driveable yet, I already have a full face helmet.
But of course, the mechanic's enemies are haunting me:
Need parts
Need money
Need time
The eternal enemies of mechanics. :roflol:

Update: Redneck Runner!!

WOOHOO!! :wai:
I finally got to drive it!!
It torque steers on pavement and drifts on grass, which is really impressive since it is geared high with a bone stock engine!!
I tore up the yard a bit, and dug a little hole doing a dirt burnout, but it was all worth it.
It throws the chain like mad, though, so in the next video I'll be fixing that and a few imperfections on the kart, and then come performance mods.
:auto: :bannana:
Here's my Kartssource video: :cheers2:

Congrats!!

Thanks, it's taken a LONG time and a lot of setbacks to get it going AT ALL.
Just yesterday I was working on the alignment, and I managed to strip out another wheel hub nut. :mad2:
I had already stripped one out before that(when I filmed the video, there was only 3 nuts holding the hub on:roflol:).
So I need more hardware.
But I've at least gotten a taste! I'm pretty impressed with the performance so far, but I can't leave well enough alone, can I? No. ;)

When I first got my one kart, there were only two of the nuts on each side holding the wheels on the hubs, and they're split rims too, with only that holding them together.

Yeah, I had an "It'll Be Fine" moment when I took it out for the first ride.
I just couldn't wait to drive it.

My am express, I was putting it together on my birthday, the bearings were so bad that when the kart was on jack stands the chain was tight and shen it was on the floor I needed half a link less. I said screw it and rode it (like 8pm) dark out and cold. Drove holding a flashlight and had the tank held on by a bungee strap. Two studs are through the stock tank mount with the aid of a bracket. And strap to hold it.

I've stuck my finger in the drive wheel hub, and IF there ever were bearings, they are completely frozen.
If.
I just squirted some WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease in there to be safe.

WHOOWEE!
:auto::auto::wai::wai::bannana::bannana:
I fixed the alignment, installed the new bearings, and this thing RIPS!!!
The Kartssource video is coming soon!

---------- Post added at 04:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:43 PM ----------

Before I put in the new high speed sealed ball bearings from BMI Karts, the chain would go tight, and then loose, tight, and then loose, when I turned the drive wheel.
The buttery smooth bearings completely got rid of it!

Kinda like your AmEx, dingocat.

I'm having chain length problems at the moment, but I have found the logo for Bird/Phoenix Engineering, so I'll share it.
I'm gonna have a sticker made for the floorpan in a Trans Am Screaming Chicken style.
Enjoy.

I just used a chain breaker for the first time, believe it or not! :lolgoku:
I trimmed off one link off the end, but now I realized I need to wait for my order of half links to come in.
For small things like chain bits and bobs, I just use Amazon, since I don't want to have to pay ~$6+ for shipping for a $2 item! :ack2:
