    backwards running frontwards spinning briggs!

Yes, Max-Torque can make a clutch engage at 1,000rpm and it will spin a fan blade which is very little load but you put a person on a mini-bike or a go kart there is too much weight to get it moving because not enough centrifugal force to lock the shoes against the drum thus the red hot drum...

    clutch /sprocket type

Made in China. Top left with the needle bearing most likely is a Max-Torque and would say so on the back plate.

    clutch /sprocket type

"A" looks to be needle bearing 219 chain, "B" is #35 chain 12 tooth china clutch, the two" C" are china 10 tooth clutches for the #420 or #41 chain. Since you cannot see the spring through the holes tells me they are china and the snap ring on the corner clutch tells me it is china.

    backwards running frontwards spinning briggs!

The problem I see is it will NOT spin fast enough for a clutch or torque converter to work. If the engine goes the normal 3,600 then 2:1 means it is only spinning 1,800 at full rpm which means you can cook your dinner on the clutch drum. Just a thought before you buy out the market.

    Will a 40-41 chain fit a 428 sprocket

No it will not. The roller in a #41 and #420 are the same .306 and the roller in a #40 chain is .312 BUT the roller in a #428 is .330 and that is to large to get all the way down in the valley of the sprocket. #428 chain takes a special sprockets which needs a special hob for the teeth. #41...

    Drive train missing, need help

The belt is a Gates HTD, 5mm, length 850mm, width 25mm. Just check out the rear pulley to make sure it isn't broken or teeth missing. They were plastic and like Thumper the rabbits mother use to say "if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all". Many of our people in...

    Drive train missing, need help

Just verify for me that the drilled and tapped hole in the end of the crank is 5/16-24. We do make a plug to go in the bore of the clutch so the pressure holding on the clutch is on the CRANKSHAFT not on the clutch. Typical crank is 2.298" up to the step in the crank. The old Briggs was...

    Drive train missing, need help

The kart had a 5mm timing belt clutch, 23 teeth on the clutch pulley. Action Products out of Tempe, AZ made the promotional go karts with a Briggs 3.5hp special length crankshaft to fully support the Max-Torque clutch. Would NOT be good for parades because you are driving too slow and to much...

    Old Honda G200 Clutch

Tossing good money out the window. The clutch will ONLY fit that Honda with the metric crank. The tire size is definitely working against you. If you can pick up some rear tires that are only 12" tall then the clutch is the way to go but sticking with the 14 1/2" tire you will burn up the...

    Old Honda G200 Clutch

I have a 12 tooth going to a 72 rear sprocket but I only have 12" slicks. I drive it on blacktop and flat as a pancake. You got hills and large tires working against you. I would swap the engine out and put on a Predator and then get the torque converter. A lot less headaches and then you...

    Old Honda G200 Clutch

The metric shaft kind of limits him on the wet clutch, the one that was in the gear box had a 2:1 reduction in it. Hopefully you are on some of the flat land in PA but if you are in the hilly area you just might have a problem with a dry clutch. The gear ratio you better shoot for would be...

    Old Honda G200 Clutch

If the rear tires are only 13" from the ground to the top of the tire then the clutch will work fine. I don't need a picture just verify with a tape measure ground to the top of the tire. Where are you located- what state.

    Old Honda G200 Clutch

Ok, just took off the clutch to give you the correct info. it is 20mm OD and is 50mm long and uses a metric bolt to hold on the clutch. Once you figure out the sprocket you are going to use then we go from there on what it will cost. Tire size will tell me if the clutch will work or not.

    Old Honda G200 Clutch

Ok, you now have a METRIC shaft and it is slightly shorter than a standard shaft that will not fully support the clutch. The clutch has to be shorten to fit the crank. I have the same engine here in the shop and I will go out and do some measurements. The thing you have to do is make up...

Trike Build - Gear ratios and Clutch help

Big problem with a #428 sprocket you can ONLY use the 428 chain. The roller in the #428 chain is too large to fit either the #41 or the #40 sprockets. It takes a special hob to cut the teeth in the sprocket for the #428 chain. Motorcycles use the larger chain but finding sprockets for it...

need help with finding a clutch

Centrifugal clutch is pedal to the metal, avoid stop and go driving, you want full throttle for long periods to cool the clutch down. A centrifugal clutch is NO GOOD for a parade, too slow, too many stops and tire size is limited to a maximum of 13" diameter anything larger then look at a...

    Hello from Girona

You are looking for suggestions and I would lay out just want you want to build and stick to the plan. Yes, I would get rid of the engine. You have to figure out just what you want to do and how big a tire you want to put on the kart. Tire size will tell you what size engine you are going to...

    Hello from Girona

Try to salvage the maximum length of the crankshaft you can to fully support the driver unit on the engine. Let us know what the 1" length is once you are done turning the crank down to I" and also drill and tap with at least a 5/16 bolt but a 3/8" would be better for that kind of horse power...

    Hello from Girona

You have a difficult task to start with because of the taper crank that will be without a keyway also. Is the end of the taper drilled and tapped?? I kind of doubt it but have to ask. The good thing about American crankshafts is they are not hardened so they can be machined fairly easy and...

    Hello from Girona

Possibly they are in Washington, DC doing their looting now. See that you are in a pretty hilly part of the country. Is the kart for back yard use, street riding, hill climbing so the advice we give you is good from the get go. Are you building the frame from scratch? How big an engine are...
