weight including the driver and the cart? haven't chosen out wheels yet, just been trying to figure out the mechanical sense of it as far as the engine, steering, brakes. is there an advantage with TC over Centrifugal clutch or the other way around?Have never seen that engine up close, but I am almost certain that is a missprint. Most all big block engines ( and 18 hp is a big block ) have a
1" output shaft. 3/8" makes no sense. That is smaller than your little finger.
Wether or not you need a torque converter or a centrifugal clutch depends a
lot on the kart you build. Weight and tire size are two of the biggest factors.
ok i see, thank you.Centrifugal clutch is pedal to the metal, avoid stop and go driving, you want full throttle for long periods to cool the clutch down. A centrifugal clutch is NO GOOD for a parade, too slow, too many stops and tire size is limited to a maximum of 13" diameter anything larger then look at a torque converter. Only exception is on a bike driving a single wheel then you can handle the larger tire as long as you have at least a 72 or larger rear sprocket in the #35 chain and a 12 tooth on the clutch.
