The chain is loose or misaligned. Use a laser pointer to make sure that the sprockets are in line. Also, your engine mount could be tilted slightly, try using washers to get it on the same plane as your driven gear. Get a chain tensioner too.

Well I'm pretty sure they last longer than 500 hours. That is the minimum use before major maintenance not the lifetime of the engine. If you used the engine for two hours per day you would go for over eight months before pulling it to do a comprehensive overhaul.

Looks great! I just put a 212 into my MBX10 this summer but went with a basic centrifugal clutch. It actually has too much low end torque and I'm considering going with a smaller sprocket on the wheel. Also, could you provide a pic of the torque converter without the cover on it?
