    yerf dog 3203 help....

Thank goodness it has some suspension. Don't know what your desert roads are like, but Baconbit is correct, no (serious) jumps. You've got a motor-bouncing machine on that rear swingarm there, and most motors don't like being jounced around like that. Messes up the gravity gas supply, and the...

    Karts with 46 inch wheelbase

I'd just start from scratch. Easier to make it your way from the start, instead of trying to adapt someone else's start to fit your needs. Get some steel round or square tubing (square is easier) from a local metal scrapper/sales yard, use an angle grinder with some metal cutoff wheels to chop...

    Street legal

I would double-check what they'll be looking for on the obligatory inspection and road-test. That "form" you were handed might not be all the permission that you need. BTW: "golf cart" is not a dedicated description of either electric or fossil fuel carts, just a generic description. You'll...

Getting it Street Legal in Montana

Just don't try to register it in Florida. You have to prove it can do 25 mph, but it's not able to go over 35 mph. Even if you pass that, you can never run it on a street with anything above a 35mph speed limit. Average speed limit around here is 40 mph, except in your own little neighborhood...

Relocating pedals out from frame to accomodate Adult rider on Go Cart

Using cable is pretty much wrong if you use the wrong "dedicated" throttle or brake cables. MFG has great cable and conduits that are worth whatever they cost (very little), use them myself. Problem with suppliers' cable/conduit sets are that you can't have even a mildly sharp bend without the...

To strip or not to strip. Paint question.

Unless I 'm missing something obvious on the spraycan label, 2X only means they're saying there's 2 times as much Rustoleum paint in the can. I've used only the 2X for that very reason, not trying to build a show kart. BTW: Anybody want to buy a nearly- (but not yet) finished weird big gokart...

    'wittle 'wesistor (Mini Jeep)

So several signal (negligible amps) circuits are run from the source power? Don't you want to separate them with a low amps fuse or breaker to isolate for trouble-shooting, as opposed to just letting them be ancillary off of the main?

Movable Foot Pedals for growing kids

Big fan of all-thread, as long as nothing has to slide back/forth on it, and it's thick enough. Don't go cheap on it, get a little thicker rod than you think it needs, spray it with WD-40 or similar to prevent rust, and adjust as time goes by.

    Gokart wheel bearings and pipe?

Simplicity is my favorite mistress for bearings, hence I like flanged bearings. Note that the only time the torque of a nut or the side loading on a bearing is a problem factor is when there's nothing keeping the bearing from moving laterally on the axle (like a flange). That's where some good...

Movable Foot Pedals for growing kids

Not a big fan of wood being used on gokarts, but I'll allow on this one...................A stack of 1 x 4" pressure treated boards cut into appropriate size for a pedal, and drilled uniformly through and bolted together on the face of the pedals can be incrementally reduced one board at a time...

So what are you doing to handle the load amperage? Is it an independent dedicated fused circuit(s)?

    Building gokart using wooden PALETTE

Very entertaining to read this whole thread, many cute opinions and comments. Outside of the reiterated "Don't do it, your grandkids would blow their inheritance" thoughts, I only found a couple of pointed facts.................. Especially the part about.................. In my experience...

    Gokart wheel bearings and pipe?

A piece of common 1" water pipe (galvanized or black iron, seam weld doesn't matter) from any local hardware store will slide right over a 1" gokart axle with a fair enough fit, same for 3/4" pipe to 3'4" axle, and make an ideal custom U-Cut-It spacer of any length for the INSIDE of FLANGED...

    Manco Dingo Wheels

This is not a recommendation, just the way I usually do things...................When faced with a custom adaptation for which there will be no replacement parts in the future (it's custom), I do a cost and time and hard-effort analysis (including the future) compared to cost and time and...
