After a serious delay due to dissapointing results from the latest acquision from the junk pile (yeah, junk engine in the junk pile! Who knew?). We are back on track.
HF had a deal on a vertical shaft motor, so we re homed one.

Now the highly anticipated JACKSTAND TEST, mentioned back in post 52 will be available for viewing.
You will see the jackstands perform flawlessly, despite all the doubters!
As a side note, notice the transaxle works too!

Those jack stands did not even wiggle! What brand are they? I need to replace the styrofoam blocks I currently use. Do they come in different colors?

Hope the transaxle holds up for a good long time. Otherwise what are going to do with an engine where the shaft comes out of the wrong side. You'll have to roll a new kart over on its side and drive it on two wheels.

Me too! A replacement should be relatively easy to find. If not, l’ll have Egor prep it for an anti matter propulsion unit.
l have recieved information about a “mower wrecking yard” only 8 miles away.
Egor has been dispatched on a covert mission to get pics.

A " mower wrecking yard ". Now that sounds like a junk mans junk pile. Countless are the treasures just waiting to be rooted out. Transaxles, wrong sided engines and who knows what else. Imagination running wild.

Exactly!

however this is a limited production run of 1. All l really need are tires and wheels.
won’t be building any more. 3 is plenty.

Naughtagator has been on hold while l worked on franken buggy's drivetrain/suspension upgrade. But since that is on hold, waiting on bearings for the left side I found sometime to work on the NAG.
There has been a lot of changes to report.
Plan A was a miserable failure. The transaxle has a missing neutral position.
Neutral can only be located when the temperature and barometric pressure are within a very narrow range. No neutral means no start.
Plan B involves removing the used engine replacing it with a new 5 yak power predator.
then the direct coupled lovejoy will be replaced with belt drives and a belt tensioner clutch.
progress so far:

Egor worked on the belt tensioner/ clutch today. He did an ok job on it. It looks like it should work. We ran belts around the contraption, checked the alingment and came away confident it will work.
Egor learned how to check belt alignment with a laser level. Then l showed him how to make a pull type control "cable" out of discarded #35 roller chain.

In other news Egor became a minor stockholder in Frank & Stein motor werks.
He has a beef with the company name that goes back to my grandfather, when he started the company.
out of respect for his investment, the board of directors has granted his wish to rename the company.
