Started laying up the chassis for Naughtagator 2.0. The goal is just a yard kart for hauling tools and assorted junk around the campus here at the Mountain top laboratory. This is not a kart for everyone (nobody for that matter) but it will serve the purpose here for $20K less than the real deal. Its all about the building anyway. Maybe some of the youngns here can learn a little about fabbing stuff. Here you might learn how to NOT do things...
Anyway, on to the mayhem, phase 1.

On this episode of Naughtagator, Egor added the triangulation for the roll bar. While rolling this thing is not a concern, the triangulation stiffens up the chassis and adds to the overall strength. The triangulation will continue to the section behind the roll bar, but that is for another episode.

On this episode of Naughtagator Egor started mocking up the transaxle. The axle shafts will get extended 6 inches and will be supported by bearings as far outboard as practical.
A lot of work remains yet. Now l’m searching for lawn tractor tires. My inner cheapskate is having a fit.
It will look something like this:

Today on Naughtagator mock up of the transaxle continues. It has been put in place, just a couple of gussets/braces to go.

Now, this idea may end up in the stupid idea hall of fame, but I'm gonna try it. Front axle from the doner mower. It pivots in the center. Egor widened it to 48" OAL.

Then the plush all weather solar heated seats and center console.

The swing shift came in today and added some of the rear tube work.

Here is a little tip for you young's that may need help. There occasionally is a part that needs to be welded in and there is no good way to hold it.
Waiting for a third hand to grow takes too long and ya know the neighbor won't hold it straight anyway, and he'll drink all yer beer while he's there, so ya need to do this solo.
Bend up a piece of sheet stock. Anything will work, just make it thin enough to bend.
Use it for clamping the pieces together where you want them, until ya get a tack weld on 'em.

Stay tuned for more helpful tips and tricks!

Naw, that's about all I got.....

I’ve always wondered how one of those tractor axles would hold up if you put gears and chains to a solid axle to increase top speed?
Well, don't expect to find out here!:ROFLMAO:

Continuing with ghetto fab we put together the shift mechanism for the transaxle. Here at F&S motor werks our MO is to never buy anything unless there is no real practical alternative.
You notice everything about this is either salvage parts or fabricated. Nothing purdy here but it actually does function well.

Naughtagator power?
Possibly. The engineering department is consulting with the power transmission division to see if the design can be revised to accomodate a horizontal shaft motor.
The purchasing department went ahead with the purchase when the performance division advised them that the engine chosen for this application needed to be sent over to the maintnance department for an overhaul.

We had to convene a meeting of the board of misdirected, in order to come up with a plan B. The time and expense of overhauling the vert shaft motor make the new $80 acqusition look like the best way to go. The decision was unanimous. Send it over to the skank works (other places have skunk works, we have skank works)
for final resolution.
