Damn archeaologists, dug it up and brought it to me.

Actually it is probably 30+ years old. Came off a push mower.
l figured being that old i should at least inspect it before going any farther.
The cylinder bore is clean and straight within .0015 according to a dial bore gauge.
Everything else looks good as well. Few gaskets, coupla oil seals and run it!

Can't wait to see this drivetrain when finished! Not sure I noticed if you said or not, but did you weld the gears to lock the transaxle, or running it posi?

No this is a yard utility kart. Just for hauling tools and s**t around the Campus here at the mountain top laboratory. I want an "open" diff for maneuverability. Speed and traction are of little concern as the terrain here is pretty flat. I'm just looking to haul my fat azz around with stuff needed for maintenance, cuz the old legs don't work as well as they used to. Stay tuned! the engine should be ready to install in a couple of weeks. We can then perform the "jack stand test". ( no, we won't be testing jack stands, but drivetrain while supported by said devices)

They will never work properly. They need to be a matched pair, and the same color. If you start the engine while sitting on those two things I'm afraid your kart might be in a serious accident. You need to go out and buy new ones.
