not to bash on your Christmas present.
but dremels are junk now! make sure you post back in at the 1 year mark of this thing. I want to know if it can even live past that without having burnt out brushes, faulty switch, burnt out windings, failed bearings.. they really are frustrating as all ****.
Flex shaft used in jewelry making or gun engraving and a separate electric motor to hook up too. induction is best. 3000 or 5000 RPM on the motor, with the down gearing from the motors arbor to the flex shafts gives you about 16000 rpm. just an FYI for when you really need your dremel and it decides to die for no reason at all and swear to never buying their junk again but you still need something like it..
The higher end Dremels aren't too bad....(I've rode them pretty hard)... but best suited to detail work. I like die grinders, but it takes a large compressor or you spend more time listening to the compressor than grinding. I REALLY like my Foredom, but they are expensive! (I lucked out and got mine on clearance for less than half of full price.)
BTW: Snow on the cars this morning! (That's Texas weather for you....84°f Saturday! )
