I could also go with the middle tire.

I found the sprocket locally. , But , now haunted by chancer's advice .. about being able to change the sprocket. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks man, that was bad move I was going to do...with welding it to the spindle.

I always have had live axle Karts. But what you are trying to do is a very Common relatively easy "One wheel peel" Go kart Drive.

Some one here should shoot you a simple fix.

Plan "C"

Cut a 5" disc and drill a 4" bolt circle, weld that to the spindle... Use any 4" bolt circle sprocket in the future. Ez

I've used those, it's the guide disk that makes it a problem.

Exactly. you just need some spacers between the Disk and the Sprocket.
Depending on your Bolt holes there is a drum for a band brake that bolts to sprockets.

Oops now I will get you "haunted" about brakes.

It will be interesting to see if there is actually a use for those.
On an actual Go kart they last about 1 hr! No Kidding..
And on a Dolly (hand truck) they are completely worthless.

A 5' 6 " wide live axle might be my whole budget for this build that was only going to be a few hundred... all my old mini bikes ran this type of set up..

Weld this together. And add a keeper key to the spindle. Notch a keyway in the sprocket.

Got called into work yesterday at 1am to put a train car back on the rail that derailed. Got to drive our 125t crane on the rail to lift the car. Was gonna take a picture of the wheels it uses as they'd be perfect for this kinda project. It's a mantis crane.

Yes a set of those would work great. Or a set of the smaller ones they use for the pick up trucks. If any come up missing it wasnt me...
