Rainy day so I'll be in the garage.

Rear axle assessment. Not good.

How did that gravel get in the tire. It's never been flat. Yes that's an 8.5 wide tire on a 9.5 rim.

Popping bearings. I might have to update to a tapered bearing to handle the side loading. Do they make such a thing?

That looks expensive.

After breaking axle down more and feeling the bearings I think they are ok. Not sure where the popping noise was comming from.

Heres my welds. Not bad for self taught. I'm not stacking coins though.

And next step is some pipe legs. Got those somewhat fitted last night. Gotta grind off the galvanized first. Stuff make you sick from the fumes.

Yes denny. 727 torqueflyte.
This one came out of a pecan tree shaker. But originally it came out of a motor home. See the hole in the top of the bell housing. That was for timing. There's a mark on the torque converter. You can't see the crank pully.

Close BBR. 70 cuda.

Just recently replaced the dash, rear deck, new carpet, new 6x9s in the rear and a twin coil 5x10 up front with a new bluetooth retro style stereo. Went through the hvac box and new gaskets.

I had my hands in a few of those transmissions 35 years ago. Is that a SE it looks awfully fancy? I’m more of a B body man.

Originally badged as a "gran coupe" born with a 383 2bbl.
Now it's a mean 513ci. Still have the 383. It's pickled and wrapped in the corner. If you look in the video, there's a couple added switches by the shifter. That activates the OD and TC lock up. Makes highway driving much better.

On tonight's edition of what ever you call it.

Had just a broken piece of hose on the case breather. Got a T and put an "almost filter" and plugged the other side. I plan on a fuel pulse pump when I relocate the fuel tank. I'll get signal from here.

Using left over parts for other things is always good. Used the chain tensioner bracket from the donor quad to make an exhaust brace.

Mas better.

I thought a few days would be enough for paint to cure. Guess not. Dribbled some carb clean. Whoops.

And for tonight prize!
a barrel full of sailboat fuel to the one who can correctly read this plug.
Pulled it just to look. Cleaned and will look again later. The gap was tight. I opened it to .032

I'm ready to put gas and start ripping around again. I'm thinking I might put in a side bar from the shock hoop to the main cage bar. It needs to be bent so I'll have to think on that, and find some more pipe.
Also want to wire up the lights.
Another night though.

Lead balls.
I have been using avgas. 100LL.

Apparently the compression isn't high enough in this engine for the high octane. The slow burn isn't getting hot enough to burn the lead out.

I ordered an adjustable cdi box. Maybe giving it some timing advance will help. If that doesn't help then either pull the head and mill it down, or go back to regular car gas.

I use the avgas because of the shelf life. It doesn't go bad.
The 301 on the other kart, has high compression and likes the high octane.

I might could lean this one a bit and run hotter to clear out the lead.

If I have to take then head off, I might as well order a cam too. Not a whole lot of performance parts but there is a few cam options.

OK guys, I think i got a name for this kart.
It's half Dingo, half China quad.

"Chingon"

Or have I had to many left handed ciggys?
IMO it doesn't have that bad azz, mean or kool factor
...but, if ya say it with an accent, & kinda like a question, it sounds funny :p

1.) I always ask myself, when contemplating a name for a kart/art
..."if I came across some friends or relatives & announced the name, how kool would it sound?"

2.) Use the Light of Day test
...whenever I "think" I have a good idea or name or whatever, I always think it thru
...save the thoughts & even make notes
...& then, think about it again, the next day, to review "the idea" with a "clear head" ;)
