OK double arm front installed.
Made some new steering tie rods out of some square tubing.

I think the steering is a little over kill. Went for a slow test ride and the tires I think are just a little too big. Steering is heavy and very responsive. Easy enough fix. I have some room on the pitman to drill a hole closer to the rod and help slow down the travel.
Look Denny proper Ackerman!

Full tire turn and the steering wheel is only turned a little. You can see the kill switch, it's normally at the 12:00 position for straight ahead.

Now that a successful test run is over the hard part comes. I have to tear it all back down and finish welding and squirt some paint on everything. It was hard to not open the throttle and start ripping through the gears.

So I took the other one for a few laps.

Well, the third time was something, I forgot.
Steering response is better.

Having brake shoes and not using them was bothering me. I pondered how to make cable pull fronts tie in with hydro rears. Then I just said why not just use the lever from the handle bars on the shifter.

I'm a genius!

Here's a demo

Or maybe this way might work better. What you think?

I also utilized the thumb throttle to work the choke lever.
Man I'm good.

The power and torque that engine is making is going to keep challenging that yard kart frame.
Yeah, I know. My other one had frame issues too. The front axle design was poor and I had to put in some bracing.
The new hopped up 301 did the same thing, ripped the motor mounts. I had to double the flat bar and added a second plate across the top. A vertical support from the engine mount to the lower frame rail helped. Haven't had any issues with that one.

This one will need the same treatment in the rear. I'm also thinking on giving the axle bearing brackets some help too. Maybe a new pillow block under the motor for the axle. Give it a center bearing.

Haven't looked at the axle yet but I hope I don't have to switch to a splined set up. Might be too much for ¼" keys.

I found the starter issue.
The battery went tits-up.
Worked just fine and then it didn't. Not even a year old.
I'm sure it thought it was in a paint shaker.

Good job inspecting it regularly.
Can't help it. It's in the blood.
Dad's an aviation mechanic and inspector. Always looking for the bad.
Between the blown alcohol dragster, the rock crawlers we torture, and just general mechanic work, looking for what broke, is just part of it now.
