On a more serious note..... I was able to get some engine mount tabs made up for the bottom side of the engine. I'm going to gusset and box the tabs and also add some cross tubes under the plates. And it'll get mid and upper mounts as well, but one thing at a time. Made some full size templates and glued them to the steel after tack welding the 2 parts together and then drilled them and shaped them. Yes the tops aren't round like the templates, get over it. :p

Anyway, it's coming along....

The progress may be slow....but its still progress  Looking good

Sometimes slower is better. I'd rather he build extremely slowly and make a very solidly built bike than fast and it fly to pieces while he is riding it.

The Bee Gees can cover the rest of this post.

Latest update video here: https://youtu.be/2gsE30qPsTs

Got the offset front sprocket made up, and the sprocket nut figured out (after a few different versions as you see). Think I'm getting my tig skills back slowly.... Added a .520" spacer between 2 sprockets and jigged them up and welded them together. Also re-hardened the sprockets after welding (black finish). Now the chain has plenty of clearance from the tire. Engine is tacked in place, and l will be welding up the top tubes/seat next and the mid engine mounts will probably be turnbuckle style tubes so they are removable for engine service, etc.

Got a little more done on the build... Got the seat/upper frame halfway fabbed up, engine plates welded up, engine tabs welded and braced and the lower frame tubes welded up to the steering tube. The seat/upper tube will tie into the rear upper hoop, and also to the steering tube. It ties the top engine mount to the frame. The seat angle is a little odd, but I think it looks ok..... maybe a hint of chopper? Most of all it is more comfortable this way than if it were level, and it keeps the rider lower. It'll have a stop so I can't slide off the seat as well. Need to add a few gussets here and there and such, but this is where I'm at.

Update! Got the topside of the frame mostly welded in, made a new intake pipe out of aluminum using the stock rubber coated boot that lowers the carb and shifts it slightly to the right. Aluminum welds aren't the best looking, but they should hold fine. Also started laying out the wiring to gauge what needs shortened or extended, etc. I welded some "C" channel on the underside of the frame tubes as well, and it really made it stronger. With some oil and fuel I could easily test fire it, too! Hope to soon! Ergonomic wise, it's a lot more comfortable to sit on than I thought it would be, and it doesn't look horribly goofy with me sitting on it.

Still going to brace the frame up/gusset as well, but it's a good place to test the engine out and make sure it's worth continuing forward.

Ordered up some pegs, a front axle, tethered kill switch, and a few other parts for the brakes, etc. Those should show up soon.

Haven't done a whole lot to the mini bike lately, got the frame welded up completely, and the wiring harness started (shorten/lengthen here and there) and I am working on a battery mount, and rebuilding the carb. I machined some front wheel spacers to center the wheel, and I made sleeve bushings to adapt the 5/8" forks to a 12 mm axle (from a honda ruckus). I have some parts on the way, brake lines, gas tank, and a few other things, so the next step will be brakes and exhaust (add 24" of pipe to get it out the back).

Also added another project to the family (girlfriend wanted a project) and we are going to be modding it out with a 212 for her. She wants to build it to stage 4! I was a little shocked. But it's a fun little bike!

Didn't meet my goal of getting the drag bike done before the first snow (snowing today) though. Sucks!

Should have more pics/another YouTube video very soon!

Another quick update! I got the reverse shifter tab made up, and welded on, lever installed and tested. Carb is rebuilt and back on the bike. Should be getting a temporary gas tank today (small plastic Chinese ATV tank) and my brake lines are taking a while to get here.

The battery tie down is mocked up, the top strap will house the relays and fuses, and possibly the starter solenoid. I just need to machine some threaded bushings to weld onto the frame plates for the tie down bolts.

I need to figure out the best clutch and throttle cable routing, as when I steer a lot it actually pulls on the clutch and throttle cable some.

Next step is to get the carb dialed in and prep everything else, then it'll be brake time and the first test ride!

Thanks! And yeah, it only throttles up when I'm turning extreme right, but I really should put a steering limit stop on it. Plus it'll have a steering dampener, and well it isn't meant to be a turning bike, and it has reverse, so I don't need a super good turning radius anyway haha.

Should get the rear brake figured out in the next few days here and the chain, might be able to cruise it around in 1st gear some (no shifter yet) definitely going to wear some gear while riding this one.

Well if anyone is still out there (and following the build) here is an update!

I'm working on the rear brake setup and the gas tank lately. I got the rear master cylinder tabs welded on, and rear caliper bracket made up/welded onto the frame and I'm mostly trying to get the brake lever thought out and made. I got the gas tank body made up, using 1/8" aluminum. Think I'm getting the welder (and myself) dialed in now. I tested the tank by pressurizing it with air and holding it under water. The tank holds 100 psi (oops) with ease and doesn't leak/blow apart so now it's on to the filler cap and the barb on the bottom side. Debating if I want to machine a fuel cap or just buy a cheap one.

My goal is to get the rear brake functional, and the tank mounted, then test ride it in 1st gear to make sure it all jives. When I get my front brake line I'll add the front brake as well, but the rear is much more powerful. The front is mostly to aid in burnouts. :p

Getting there, slowly but surely. The predator 212 swap into the baja blitz took a good chunk of my time, but man is that a fun little bike.
