I'll take a crack at the build off! Starting with a Nitro 44 frame, and yes, that's a 18x8-8 rear tire.... And yes, it will fit when I'm done 😁

I'll also be posting videos on YouTube of progress as well.

Powerplant, is a Yamaha warrior 350 engine/trans from a quad. Think they're 17-20 HP ish stock from what I can find. I ported the head, stage 1 cam, and l will be running a straight pipe exhaust and pod filter. Stock sprockets until I get a baseline run.

First order of business....cut up my brand new Nitro 44 frame.... Then I have to rework the frame a little bit...

Will that engine fit heighth wise ? I got the nitro 50 and installed a 2-stroke and it barely cleared the top rails.

Currently yes, without the head on. This frame is going to be modified quite a bit from original.

Think outside the frame 😁

Might be easier to make your own frame then. Then use that one as a regular minibike. Looks like there isn’t gonna be anything left of it. Rick would sell you just the forks I’m sure.

Thought about that... But a tubing bender was more expensive than a complete frame. And I'm not going to mess with a HF pipe bender. There will be plenty of the nitro 44 left, it'll just be modified. It'll make more sense as the build progresses. Everything I'm doing on this build has a reason/place (at least in my head).

Have a little faith ;)

I will try my best! I'll also be doing video updates (I think that they are better than pics sometimes) but I'll try to do both for sure.

Made a little progress today, cut the frame up a bit. Waiting on the tubing order to show up before cutting any further. The exhaust will either dump straight down or will actually be inside the frame. The pic is for mock up purposes only. Plan to build off of the main tube (up) and then level it out and tie it back into the frame.

Not to discredit the maker of the frame (no flaming intended, I'm only mentioning it), but a few things aren't really straight on the frame as I got it, probably not a big deal for a 6hp engine build though.. but other than that I'm very happy with it.

So far the only problem I see is I may need to run a jackshaft to get the sprocket output far enough away from the rear tire. But once it gets a little further along I'll know better what it needs.

Should get the engine back together in the next few days.

This is true! I'll keep up with pics then!

Ez, that's basically what I'm going to do, but I might get a bit more fancy with it....

Got the new cam bearing pressed onto the cam, and I found that melting wax into a blind hole needle bearing, and hammering a large brass punch into the set wax will actually press the bearing out. Probably one of the coolest things I've seen!

The new inner cam bearing will be chilled in a really cold freezer, and the head will get a little bit of heat. That way I don't risk distortion of the bearing's outer sleeve while installing it (hopefully).

Tubing is on it's way today, and I've ordered some other parts for it.

Need to get a hole saw for my tubing notcher and I can get started with frame work.

Thank you! It'll get there soon hopefully! Planning on doing a full powder coat job on it after it's tested, etc.

Here is today's progress, I got the frame chopped up, and I kinda mocked up some ideas. Also got some parts.

I'll be using a warrior 350 rear brake setup (yes it's big stuff) but I'll stuff it in there. Also working on a shifter setup, working on an ignition cut delay box for the air shifter setup.

Stay tuned for more shenanigans.

Got a few things done! Mostly waiting on parts right now :( :( :( I picked up a 10" front wheel from a Honda CT70, setup for a front disc brake conversion (hub is on order) and I am waiting on more tubing to get the frame together.

I did, however get the rear brake rotor hub made up. Modifying a gopowersports wheel hub, and turning an aluminum spacer allowed the disc to be centered on the hub. I then drilled/tapped 4 5/16-18 holes to mount the rotor. Might trim it down a little bit more, but it's good enough for mock up right now at least.

Found the pneumatic cylinder and solenoid for the shifter, just need to build the ignition kill box. And it will be push button up and down shift (down requiring the clutch obviously).

Hopefully this weekend l can get to putting the frame back together! Should have a YouTube update coming soon as well.
