Here are a few pictures of the bike....

The next step is getting the pegs moved, air shifter setup, tear down and powder coat! (And less zip tie madness)

I've been super busy with work lately, but I got to work in a little time on the project!

I got some oe style Yamaha pegs from Amazon, and made up some brackets and extensions to mount them to the bike. I need to drill the mounting pin hole, contour the brackets for folding, and add a stop so they rest in the right place. Once they're tacked up I'll verify they're in the right spot, weld them up and test drive the bike again.

Not massive progress, but it's something!

Got the peg mounts welded up enough to try them out, and I also made up a slightly wider seat board and I added a 2nd layer of foam as well for better comfort. I'll cover it again with the gator print.

Going to work on a rear brake foot lever, the front brake caliper mount and the shifter lever next.

Still working on the bike, test rode it again today with the new pegs and it's much much better.

Got on the throttle heavy, and it would seem that either the clutch is slipping, or the tire pressure is too low and the wheel is slipping on the tire bead.

I'm guessing clutch...

Hope to get it wrapped up soon!

Don't really have any pics to post up for the bike, but I've got a couple YouTube videos coming up.

I replaced the clutch, but it's snowy and cold outside so I have to wait for better weather to test it out.

In the mean time, I'll be working on the manual shifter, and probably the front brake mount as well, then it's rear brake linkage fun to get that working. It's going to be cable operated I'm thinking, but I need to see what I can figure out.

Stay tuned for more!

Figured I would update this thread!

I am working on the bike still! I am working towards getting it powder coated mainly (although moving never helps). I replaced the clutch, and that made a HUGE difference. I went out for a test ride to see what the bike would do. I could also have a parking brake rev limiter or something else causing problems, I will investigate that further...

The results are in this video: https://youtu.be/1I122i_ykHI

I need to work on gearing a little bit (a lot), but overall the bike handled very well!

Well, upon investigating the rev limiter theory, I somehow fried the CDI. I've got a new one on the way and I have full wiring diagrams now as well so I am not working blind. Before I cooked the CDI, I did discover that there was in fact some limiter that was engaging from what I could tell. And the FSM for the Warrior states that it will limit the RPM's to 2800 if it thinks the parking brake is on, and I am fairly confident that is the issue. There is also no other rev limiter on that engine, so it wraps til valve float otherwise.

I'll also try to get a tach on it as well.

I will be building a drift trike project as well coming soon. Probably wont enter the build-off with it though.

Stay tuned for more!

I've been waiting on an update. But these engines really didn't need a rev limiter. Best I can tell is that they just run out of power while screamin' at 60-67mph depending on where you look.

Yeah, the warrior was never a speed demon. However it should go a bit faster than 60 in this mini bike in theory (which is sketch for any mini bike). I should also get a few more rpm's out of it cammed, ported, jetted and piped.

Update on the rev limiter issue:

I was troubleshooting and all the sudden the bike wouldn't run or start. Traced all the wiring, got diagrams, etc from the FSM and found all was well, but the power wires all had 200k ohms to ground :ack2: , so I unplugged the CDI connector and all the power wires went back to normal resistance. So I ordered a new CDI and a new coil (apparently if the coil resistance is too high it can hit the CDI with high voltage and fry it) so I figured it was worth a shot to replace it while I'm there.

I pulled the harness to check it, so I need to re-install it and try it all out. The parking brake rev limiter was disabled properly, so I am not sure what the issue is. Maybe it's just wrapping out REALLY fast? I'll order a tach from amazon and see what the actual rpm's are if it is still giving problems after the new CDI.

Kind of an odd problem, but getting all these parts used (unknown condition) and not having a wiring diagram when wiring it initially (could have fried something early on) doesn't help much.

I'll get it figured out soon! Also moving next week, and I am swamped at work lately, but I'm working on it in what little time I do have.

Also got the parts for the stage 4 212 powered drift trike build!

Yeah, my warrior'll rev so much higher than yours in your top speed run. But don't ask me to get you a video of it, since mines out of action for the moment (the carb broke).

Ok, so I thought the CDI was cooked, now I am leaning towards the battery taking a dump on me (guessing it's due to vibration). So that's problem 1.

The next could possibly be the stator is going bad, and giving a weak pulse signal to the CDI under high rpm's, causing weak spark up top (the rev limit-like issue).

Or the carb is too rich or lean up top. The plug says it's rich, but it needs to run to figure out the carb tuning lol. I am guessing that the needle needs dropped a notch. But in theory, it should be running lean. I'm running a stock 145 main, and that's at 6k ft above sea level. Plus it's a straight pipe, cammed, ported fairly aggressive, and has a pod filter. Most guys are running 150-155 mains (guessing at sea level).

Stupid question....If the fuel tank isn't vented could that be an issue? The carb bowl is vented, and functional.

After I move I will get back on it!
