    Can anyone run Carfax reports?

Good good! Super busy with school, my own cars, and whatnot, but what else is new?! That's a pretty good idea. I found a way to get Experian's AutoChecks run for free, but I don't think they're as good as CarFax (after running the cars thru it that I know the history of). It's pretty easy...

    Can anyone run Carfax reports?

Hey all. Haven't been here in a while, but figured I'd reach out to a bunch of car/vehicle people. I'm looking at an early 00s Tacoma and want to check out its history. Does anyone work at a dealer or have a way to run Carfax reports for free (I'll Paypal for your inconveneince)? TYIA!

    Kill it with fire!

Brake cleaner (with the little straw) and a lighter! My favorite!

    So...How was YOUR day, honey?

Poboy, I had something like that recently. I pulled into the station with my gas light about melting through the dash and intended on filling up completely. Now, I don't normally go to this gas station because their pumps are always "broken" and don't accept the discounts from a local grocery...

    welding repairs question

I'd remove the paint, drill the ends like mentioned above (this removes sharp corners that concentrate stress), and then wrap a plate (same thickness as the tube or more) over the entire area, and then weld it on as if it were a number plate or something. If it's already cracking, welding the...

    Head Scratcher

If all you do is pull the governor, you'll likely float the valves before anything goes boom. Stock valve springs aren't any more than "sufficient" for their intended speeds.

how would you check valve spring rate?

I'd get a cheapo dial indicator and set some known amount of weight on the spring. You may need to make some type a jig for it all, but it shouldn't be too tough and will give you down to the .001" of deflection, so you won't need much weight or displacement.

    My starting platform

From what I've seen of competitive karting (a good friend of mine and his dad are the Praga karting dealers in the mid-atlantic), it's a massive money pit, tires are junk after a race, and if you don't have the latest and greatest kart/motor/set-up/etc., there's likely someone just as skilled...

Hey fellas. Can someone give me a hand?

Those covers should all be the same. Comet never made many models and the 30 is pretty standard. FWIW, even a knock off cover should fit, as many of them are clones. Additionally, it's ABSOLUTELY worth reviving. I brought mine back from the grave pretty easily. It was pretty heavily rusted...

    and so it begins......

Though I'm a bit late here, for future reference, I'd start with something like 80 grit sandpaper just to knock the scale off and see what OD the metal actually is. Then, I'd try to measure with a micrometer if at all possible. Next in the hierarchy would be a high quality set of digital/dial...

    Comet vs Chinese Torque Converters

What's the reason for needing to replace the Comet? I feel like those are parts that should almost never end up in the scrap bin.

Awesome pics of vintage racing (cars)

If you guys like vintage racing, check out the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. It's a week+ long series of events culminating with a multi-acre car show (held on a golf course!) showcasing anything from turn-of-the-20th-century steam cars to original chassis'd GT40's worth MILLIONS to the...

    World Cup

I mostly use the grill for stuff like burgers, hot dogs, sausage, fish, etc. Then I'll use a smoker for things like ribs, jerky, brisket, and the like. The smoker hovers around 160*F for a solid 12-18 hours and is fueled by select woods and charcoal. Much like what Poboy said.

    drift trike ;-)

The motor has a 6:1 internal reduciton? Like one of the side-mounted boxes attached to the case? I don't know if those have an internal clutch or just gear reductions, but if it doesn't, you won't be able to put a clutch of any type on the 1" output shaft, as it won't spin fast enough...

Newbie in need of technical advice

Hey Battleboar, there is a LOT of info on here if you do a search for the Manco Dingo model. It's one of the more common produciton karts and has come up countless times. A member here, Blazkowiez, used to be the resident expert on Dingos and the sort. He owns/runs/family owns (I can't...

inline 4 kawasaki 750 in a single seater go cart.

My fear is that the frame will turn into a file of spaghetti since it came with probably 5% or less HP than you plan on adding.

    My Hiatus

I just realized I never updated after procrastinating during finals week. Anyways, as I said, pictures of our stainless headers are attached. We finished up our two competitions and suffered disappointing ends to both, but we're a very young team (70-80% sophomores), so we're optimistic and...

My 750cc Suzuki Powered buggy rolling spectacularly!

If you're in the market for repairs, I'd suggest some arm restraints to keep the roll cage from pinching off your arm as well as something that resembles a firewall. If gas leaks on the headers, you're gonna get crispy real fast. Overall though, looks like an awesome buggy!
