I don’t have any appropriate files.
I do have a Dremel and various grinding attachments.

I think I could probably create a bit of chamfer with the dremel similar to what I could do with a file.

I took the file to it.

This area still might need work.

He’s adorable and He can poop on the carpet outside my bathroom. I adopted this little guy at the end March and he’s figured it out now, but for a while I think he just watched me poo and figured this was the poo area. Lol

Let’s see if the rings fit with about 0.016” gap now.

Im afraid I removed too much material and the gap that was 0.013” will now be 0.020”

So the new rings have gaps of 0.016” for the top ring and 0.015” for the 2nd ring.

2.756” x 0.0055 =
0.0152”

They are close enough to perfect where I probably shouldn’t mess with them.

Because every dog over the age of three should have a set of micrometers.

0-1”
1-2”
2-3”

Resolution 0.0001”

Arriving today. We shall see if the crankshaft journal is 1.1880”

All mic’d up.

Pretty cool project. Not sure if this has been touched on but I'm questioning the hose connecting the valve cover and the crankcase. I'm comming at this as an ex performance engine builder but it looks to me like your going to be pushing unburned hydocarbons into the crankcase/oil. Typically i would pull a vacuums on both the crankcase and the valve covers. Not really nessasary on the small engines, but i personally wouldn't have them connected. But I can't see all the plumbing. My .02

I had side cover (crankcase), valve cover, and governor arm hole (crankcase) all plumed together and to an oil catch can with breather filter.

I appreciate the input and will have to take a moment to think about what is happening in there.

I guess I figured it would allow pressures to equalize and vent out the breather filter on up and down strokes. Plus I figured dripping some oil on the exhaust valve might have benefits.

If you care to explain a little more how you might plumb it and why. I currently have 3 vent spots.
