Hey PP, good to see you redoing another one. Are you converting the rear axle on this one to solid axle like the last one?

Not for this one, that was a pain last time, turned out good overall but a lot of extra money I don’t want to put into it.

I feel the sprocket is better on this axle than the last build, so I’ll keep it on there, if I do need to change it out, I’ll have to find a blank and take it to a machine shop to get the holes and bored done, there
usually more accurate than I am with a drill😎😎😎

If that axle isn't cracked I wouldn't mess with it either. I still have the parts in a box waiting on my rebuild, one of these days I will get around to it, only been a year :D

Looking good! What paint did you use?
Thank you!!!! I used a rustoleum custom neon green, so this is a laquer based paint, and as I mentioned it did not mix well with the primer I had originally sprayed it with. This was my first time with laquer paint so I was a learning curve for me.

So with this particular kart, it originally had a 8hp motor on it. And had a riser of sorts, so when the young guys funked up the original setup they had welded stuff to it where I couldn’t save the mount. With me getting older and working on the kart periodically I forgot about this. With the new 224cc engine going on , the slots in the original motor mount didn’t match up so I cut the old mount off and cleaned everything up, upon doing this is when I realized I messed up.

I now will have to make a new mount for the motor mount plate since this current setup will not work whatsoever.
See pics…….

If it had one then yes that would have been better but it came to my possession with a jacked up 212……. I do have a Manco performance model with a 420 and a ”spice kit” that is quite fun to ride around on 😎😎😎

Looks like you need to move the engine to the left a bit. Are you going to weld on another engine plate, or buy the aluminum plate that gives you side movement. I think you will have enough power with the 224, especially if you
SPICE it up.

Yes I’m going to fab up another mount of sorts, just guna have to think a little bit about it, when I was re-doing the Baja mini bikes years ago, I had made several engine mount plates because the china ones were cheap and thin, so I may end up using those to get me somewhere close and then use some 3” channel to raise the engine top plate, I’ll try to post a pic of when I did this on my single seater big red Manco kart.
