Probably not, that would be a lot of steel wool. I did make another little baffle for the inside, i want it to sound nice, and decently loud, just not straight piped.

I got some more done today, a friend came over whos getting into this type of stuff and wanted to help so we worked on the kart some. I let him do a lot of the welding on the less important parts, because he isnt the greatest haha.

Finished up the brake pedal linkage.

(Ignore the battery, its just sitting there)

Also made the battery box

and mounted the caliper, thats the mount i unbolted it because one of the pads came loose.

Me and my friend pushed it outside to do a little welding, does that count?
:roflol:

I need to finish the shifter linkage, finish clutch linkage, do the wiring, finish the exhaust, and go back over all of my friends ****ty welds :)mad2:), and get some brake line. Then its drivable.

I guess i have to make a 2 piece (dis-connectable) header, i finish it up and tacked the Y pipe in place only to find out i couldnt remove the headers because the exhaust ports slant out away from each other. I'm workin on it tho, about half way done at the moment.

Its already less restrictive than stock, the stock pipes had about 3/4" outlets, and the stock headers are only 1" ID, the muffler i made has 1 1/2" ID pipes, and the baffles have 1" x 3" holes.

i started her up today! she sounds like a ****in beast with that muffler, pretty loud too. I would get a video but i ran out of gas completely... I also have to re configure the steering, at the moment the tie rods get in the way of my feet, and the brake pedal.

So list of things to do before i can test it

-finish up steering linkages
-rig up throttle (should be a 5 minute job)
-rig up clutch (prolly a 10 minute job)
-run brake line and plumb
-square away axle (keyways, set screws, chain etc)
-Do some more wiring

I should hopefully be heading into town tonight for brake line, some misc nuts and bolts, and more gas. I'll get a video of it running as soon as i get gas.

If your motor has the vacuum diaphragm carbs (rather than slide carbs), it will be tough to get them to work really right with those filters, they really need the stock airbox. ;)
