When I went to bed last night I could hear a constant, rhythmic tapping sound; we had some rain last night &, yep, the roof is leaking...

On inspection this morning I discovered the corrigated fibre-cement roofing sheet from the late 60's above my room was broken... guess what I'm doing today...

Buying a bunch of buckets?:lolgoku:

Ok, I've read some stories on here about bad luck. Be glad your not me. On march 11 in a ice storm the girlfriend slid into a ditch with her Chevy trailblazer (200,000 mi. and no major repairs). Blew up the transmission and transfer case.
Two weeks later we buy a 1987 Chevy conversion van, very clean and very well taken care of by a older lady and only 65,000 and change miles are on it.
We get it home I say Honey next trip into town stop and get a gallon of premixed anti-freeze and top off the radiator and overflow jug(it was a little low). Next trip into town she buys the anti-freeze. A week later one night when she came home from picking up the kids from school she said the van overheated and the oil light came on and was now running rough. When I asked her if she put in the anti-freeze she said no. :mad2: When I asked her if she kept on driving when the lights came on she said yes. :censored: I checked it out the next day and sure as sh1t blown head gaskets and the bottom end is noisy. With a new GM crate engine and parts I am now into this thing $2,250.00 plus purchase price. I hate the month of march. Did I mention I was also sick and missed work for 2 weeks with a 102 fever and respiratory infection!:censored:

I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse.....but it sounds like that motor had some issues beforehand....so...maybe topping off the coolant would have only postponed the inevitable.

The coolant had to be going somewhere....and if it was into the engine....chances are the bearings were already shot....

But, regardless, it sucks to buy a vehicle and have to change out engines sooner than you expected to change the wiper blades.....

And being sick ALWAYS sucks.

Here's to a better. April-February ahead!!!:cheers2:

Well......A neighbor of mine got a handful of pocket rockets and brought me over to help him fix them....

I messed with two of them yesterday....and couldn't fix either one...

One has a pull start issue ......the other a carb issue...(among some other problems) .....

I basically have zero knowledge with these things....so this should be interesting....

I don't even want to get into it here....but the idiot with the pocket bikes got belligerent with me....so I just gave them back to him....(Good riddance and good luck with that....you dummy) ......

I went into more details on Chatzy.....but I was talking with a 90 year old woman.....and she didn't seem to have a problem understanding the mechanical aspects this guy couldn't seem to grasp.....

Anyway....the reason I was talking to this 90 year old woman is she approached me with a proposition : mow her front and back yards....and weed-eat/ edge the front for $40.....

So....I jumped on that....but my left boot was hurting my foot...(heel) ...a bit...but I just ignored it....anyway....I did a lot of walking...and now it feels like a huge stone bruise on my left heel....I searched the boot....and found something the size of a grain of rice......

I must be getting soft in my old age.....

Sorry for the double post....(especially when they are on the same subjects: "idiots")......even tho they are in different states......JK....Eric

But this guy with the pocket bikes wanted to know if he could come over and get water for his dogs.....

I was like....."Ummmmm.....heck yeah....and you didn't even need to ask....and take all you want!" I told him last week he could do that.....I do what I say
....and say what I do......(rant over)....

Doesn't he have water at his house?

He's probably asking again because, maybe, he thinks you have a problem with him after the "pocket bikes" incident...

No....he doesn't have water...he says it'll cost $600 to get it turned on....

This is what gets me....he called me bipolar last night....I'm not....but HE is!

EDIT: Hmmmmm.....What's that old saying? "The "pot" calling the kettle black? " But he's doing something else altogether.....He's self medicating....but it's not working.....

I cant believe he would call YOU bipolar. You seem so level headed.:lolgoku:
Self medicating will make a guy thirsty.... So I've heard.

ONLY IN TEXAS!!!!!!

So.....I'm out shopping....going from store to store....and driving down the main road/fire lane....when a small compact car makes a left hand turn onto the lane right in front of me....so...I hit the turn in to the parking lot and the gas....flip them off....and speed across the parking lot to a space and stop.....

Now....before I go any further....let me add...that the inconsideration of people nowadays is something that irritates the bejabbers out of me.....(There's 100' between the drive-thru and the parking lot exit.....but they drive to there, and then start digging through their bags of food).......

Anyway....this little car turns down one of the lanes and stops in front of my truck.....I'm so enraged.....I don't even grab my gun before I jump out of my truck.....

The window rolls down.....and there are two very large biker individuals inside.....I'm so mad....that I don't care....and I shout at them: "What the fikkle (lol) was that poop all about?....You guys pulled out right in front of me!"

Now.....I thought I was ready for anything....but I was completely blindsided by what happened next.....

The passenger says: "Man, we're sorry....man, we didn't even see you."

Which made me feel about 2 feet tall and almost as a big a jerk as I really am....

I said :"Yeah....I understand....it's not like I haven't not seen a car before myself.....you guys take care...."

OK....Today was a good day.....

I saved the life of a 5' Texas rat snake.....

I looked out my front door....and there was a mob of 7 or 8 people on cell phones....armed with shovels and other deadly garden implements.....all looking in a tree....I knew immediately what was going on....so I walked the couple of doors down.....

I was met by: "There's a huge copperhead in this tree...."

I said (before even seeing it): "It's not a copperhead....it's a Texas rat snake...do me a favor...everyone just chill for 2 minutes until I walk down to my house and back....."

I go grab Oscar and walk back....I said :" See.....same snakes..." Someone said they weren't exactly the same color....and I told them they can vary a bit....but that was definitely a Texas rat snake.....

I climbed 20' up into this tree.....(at this point....really wishing I was in sneakers instead of dress loafers.....and was 30 years younger) .....

Asked for a shovel....told people to stay back and stay calm....and tried to dislodge it with the handle.....it wound up going higher...and eventually....I wound up on the roof....with a 10' piece of conduit.....knocked it on the roof...it slithered down into a flower bed.....but I climbed down and found it.....

Hopefully....I not only saved it's life but educated 8 people on the fact these are beneficial creatures and should not be needlessly destroyed......

So does Oscar have a boy/girl friend now she can slither around with?

Actually.....I wasn't planning on keeping this ornery sucker....but I may collaborate with the nature center and see if they will sex it for me.....and possibly mate Oscar.....and donate it to the center....(they were looking for some breeders awhile back).....

By the way the reason the headgaskets in the van blew was because the serpentine belt lightly chewed through the lower radiator hose and the gf just kept on driving. :mad2: The 305 is out now and a new crate 350 is in it's place along with a new stainless steel lower radiator hose guard I made up. ;)
