the reason the headgaskets in the van blew was because the serpentine belt lightly chewed through the lower radiator hose

There's a design flaw if I ever saw one

The 305 is out now and a new crate 350 is in it's place along with a new stainless steel lower radiator hose guard I made up.

Sooooo..... There's an old saying: "Wild animals are unpredictable....."

This snake was just not acting right.....it got me to thinking....it took about an 8' drop onto a shingled roof....then another about the same ...onto a concrete sidewalk.....perhaps it was critically injured.....

I just couldn't get it to react like it should.....(too docile)....finally...I was able to provoke it into what should be a natural response.....(see pic)

But I have taken this guy out and his natural response to try to crawl out of my hands was there....and he was very active doing that....(crawling 100 mph)... but showed no aggression.....even when I grabbed it's head....and I gave this snake plenty of free range to bite wherever and whenever it wanted.....

You know Jim....dealing with wild animals...you have to be very cautious.....very observant....and a teeny bit of a psychoanalyst.....

I just haven't got this guy figured out yet.....don't know if he's Ghandi.....or Jeffrey Dahmer.......

Well....I was a little bit hesitant and anxious to take this new guy outside.....sometimes....wild animals will act very docile in captivity....but once outside....the instinct to escape kicks in.....and they become aggressive......

Nope.....didn't happen.....coolest snake ever.....

So....I've been keeping this snake in a critter keeper until I can make a enclosure for it .....never even seen it look up....

I make a quick run to Home Depot two days ago....get home and the critter keeper is empty....(This snake is plenty long enough and strong enough to push the lid open.....even though I struggle sometimes) .....

Well....I was lucky...I hadn't been gone long so I found it in another room....I got my gloves and it was capture time all over again....and it would have bit the devil out of me given a chance......

So.....I get it back in the keeper....and think to myself how lucky I am it wasn't while I was at work....(they can be a real pain to track down) ....

So.....I put some heavy rocks on each end of the keeper top and go to work.....

I get home....open the front door and thunk...it only opens a foot and a half....I look down and see a foot of rat snake tail....SAY WHAT??????

I slip in and here's this 5' rat snake.....but he ain't playing....he's coiled up and already striking....fortunately ....I had my gloves and a board within arms reach .....it bit the board 3 or 4 times before I could push it's head down for a split second before I grabbed it and the wrestling match was on.....

I forgot about the clear plastic door in the lid of the critter keeper....DOH! !!!

So now ....I've got to hold a struggling 5' rat snake with one hand while trying to get the rocks off and open the lid to the critter keeper with the other....

Unbelievable....2 escapes and 2 recaptures in one day....last time Oscar escaped it took me a month to find her....

Ok.....so ...it should come as no surprise to anyone that halfway watches news....that we have gotten some rain last month....

A few facts: 35 trillion gallons in the month of May alone.....enough water to supply every person on the Earth with the recommended eight 8oz. glasses of water for 10,000 days....enough water to cover the entire state with 8" of standing water.....

Sooooo...I'm out this evening....trying to catch up on all those garden chores...that I didn't get to do with all this rain.....

So now ....I am itching like ****....despite 4 Citronella Tiki torches surrounding me as I pulled the overgrown weeds.....

But here's the thing: Used to be...if you got bitten by a mosquito
...it was annoying.....unless you were in the jungle....and then you could get Malaria....well....Dammet!!!! West Nile Virus is all over the place here....last year ....they found mosquitoes that tested positive 2 blocks away.

Alfred Hitchcock doesn't scare me...I'll shoot all those blackbirds with my pellet gun....what's really scary isn't 'The Birds'

I have a few thousand tadpoles in my little pond right now....they will be chowing down on these evil bugs in a couple of weeks....

Yep Texas state bird is a mosquito right? I was thinking about this last week you got feet of rain and suddenly its June, hot, muggy, and a zillion bugs. I'll stick to Ca, despite the hippies and the taxes

Well....I've had a real good run the last week! !!!.

Plenty of work....life is good!

Somebody was not in such a good mood this afternoon.....

I had a feeling....(judging his body language) ...that Felix was going to be cantankerous.....so I put a glove on before I reached in the cage....he struck it twice ....after I took him out he pooped on me....

He was pretty wild...but I got him fairly calmed down....and took the glove off....

As I was playing with him....his rear slipped down into the edge of the recliner.....now ....rat snakes hate to be pulled out of anything....so while I was wrestling him out.....and forgot to watch him
...

He nailed me on the left side of my head....yes....he drew blood....

If I didn't know better.....I'd think this guy doesn't like me.....

Well....I went out and hit some golf balls....My swing has been constantly improving....but I screwed something up in my right forearm and it's extremely painful to do anything with it....

But....I'm playing! !!!!!! I also hope they are way off on the 53% rain chances by 11:00am.....

Quick tip to all you golfers out there....don't put your clubs down for 3 years....pick them up a few days before tee time.....and expect to play like a pro.....

EDIT: One thing I feel is really missing is my length....I'm only getting about 125yards out of my 9 iron and 225 out of my driver.....

Meh, if you can get your shots reasonably accurate at that distance you'll still do better than most serious golfers.

Yeah.....biggest little word in the English language..."if"....and yeah....I really do know how to play the game....I'll take straight over long any day.....but that's still iffy right now....

Soooooo.....I did something to my right forearm while practicing....(I'm not a doctor....so I don't know what)....Pain from the elbow to the knuckles....(I'm guessing sprained tendon).....anyway....happened pretty early in the big bucket of practice balls....so I made about 100 shots after....but I'll be playing through the pain......(and possibly the rain 53% by 11:00 am).....

But I'm no quitter.....

I also hit a jumbo bucket today. Had a great time. No injuries this time out but I can sure relate to golf swing injury and pain... I have pulled muscles in chest, forearm and neck. In the years I have been playing...

Sooooo.....Felix continues to be a wild Texas rat snake....took him out for a little session a little while ago....and...out of the blue....he strikes at my nose!!!!

I recorded it....unfortunately, the lighting is not very good....so it's really hard to see him strike at my face....but you can see his mouth open right after...

It's a nightmare trying to upload to YouTube here....but maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll go to McDonald's and do it on WiFi....

What a nightmare morning....I decided....(since I was running late....) to just use Google to find the golf course.....

Now....I should have been there 15minutes early....with enough gas to get home.....I came so EXTREMELY close to running out of gas in the middle of nowhere.....drove at least 50 miles out of the way...and showed up over an hour late.....

(My phone kept losing GPS.....so it neglected to tell me when to turn!!!!)

And now that I know where it is...it should have been easy and fast....

But....I was lost in the boonies...with way under "E" on the gas tank....fortunately...I found a gas station....and made it to the course with 15lbs. of air in the passenger rear tire.....

They shuttled me out to join the last group...(which were two Davids) and we played from the fifth hole on as a threesome)....the scramble was a 4 man best ball scramble.....

Sooooo.....I had fun....but it was pretty difficult to play....I used to be a fairly deliberate and decent golfer....so...I had an established routine of three practice swings....

Today....I often hit without ONE!

And here's why: every swing was extremely painful.....

Soooooo.....in the pics...you can see...there is a lump in my right forearm the size of a large chicken egg buried 1/2 way into my arm just below the elbow....think I tore the ligaments to that muscle....but IDK....what I do know is it hurts....

I got a trophy tho!!!!! Now I can tell everyone to kiss my a$$.....

BTW: The video of Felix taking a swipe at my nose is now on YouTube: 'Grumpy Felix' ....

The lighting is terrible, and you can't see a lot....but you can hear him rattle his tail as I take him out.....and the strike is right around the 2 min. mark....you can see it if you look close....if you hear me say "Hey boyyyyy"...and his mouth open....you missed it....
