Well I spent the last 1/2 hour doing self dentistry...I had a gold crown on a molar that was.only. one of two teeth making contact in my mouth....and it was causing pain when it hit....so I set out to remove it....starting at the bottom....I dug out the rotten parts of the original tooth...working from tje back to the front...I also dug out as much of whatever adhesive and crap as possible....got a hole big enough to stick my tounge under 2/3 rds of the way across....so I thought I could pull it....

I grabbed some needle nosed pliers...because they were handy....AND......they SLIPPED off that crown....and....you guessed it....pinched the CRAP out of my upper lip!!----

Anyway....mission accomplished....crown off....very different bite pattern now....can't wait to see what I can eat now....still quite a bit of it sticking up....and I Have a tooth on the other side that is tall as well.....if I can get these 2 high teeth groung down...it puts more teeth into play....and being mostare close or at the gumline....I'm hoping that it will make dentures ppssible for a few hundred....instead of 10's of thousands....

Yeah....well I wish I was still just brushing them and eating fiery hot peppers......but I'll settle for living without teeth and fiery food....and breathe.....

And maybe drop dead someday instead of a slow agonizing painful death....

Cancer. Sucks......Nuff said....

Don't you guys have free health insuranece or something that might cover the cost of going to the dentist....and maybe getting dentures?

Doing your own teeth is just crazy man.....and hazardous

There is no such thing a "Free" insurance in the US, or anywhere for that matter. Insurance is a business, not a benevolent institution. Someone has to pay. Insurance offered by government is no different - someone has to pay. Even with insurance, the policies are set up to discourage claims, with high deductibles and other out of pocket expense. And, most commercial claims adjusters are directed to deny and delay claims as much as possible, to increase the insuror's profitability. That's just the way it is today.

I've set my own broken bones. It's not fun, but it is affordable. I won't go to a doctor until something I need falls off, and at my age, there are fewer and fewer parts that I NEED.:lolgoku:

The long timer's at work are always p!##ing and moaning about how they don't have the insurance they use to have ~10 to 15 years ago. They flat out refuse to understand why I'm more than willing to cheerfully agree to the current $46.00 a week copay for the coverage we have.

I'm single; the one's that floor me are the one's who complain about the family copay price of $160.00 a month when they have themselves, their spouses, and seven children. That means that they are paying for only four people, but still getting great coverage for nine.

By that math, I'm the one getting screwed (they've tried that argument too). While I have more than two prescription's, I have two that if I had to buy them cash out of pocket, it would cost me more than $800.00 a month. So, for that $164.00 a month (plus ~another $50.00 or so for the rest) I get all my meds, I can go to the doctor whenever I need to with zero out of pocket, a really solid hospitalization package, plus vision and dental.

When I regail them with what it was like for me during the two stretches I had over the last few years when I had zero insurance, some of them call me a bald face liar. Some of the others, who have extended family in that place suddenly shut the :censored: up.

Now, for something different....

So, I passed on that I got my truck on the road after my poor Escort gave up. So far, so good. Still burning thru an ~ 50/50 mix of fresh/3 year old gas, but it's running well. For a 19 year old truck with what was considered to be a small under powered engine, this thing flat out scoots.

It has a V6 displaying 4.3 liters (262 c.i.), rated at 160 HP., and redlines at 4,000 rpm. Compared to modern engine's that have over square bore/stroke ratio's and have to wind up towards the moon to make power, this poor thing is a dinosaur; throw it back out with the tractors.

Actually, that's a great place to be if you want to get things done. Step out from a light at ~1/3 throttle, and the motor wind's up to about two grand on the tach, and you're doing a good job of impersonating the bumper sticker on the rear of the diesel engine nut driving the truck in front of you. It's great fun.

It still has a knick/knack list of things to look at, so it's a work in progress. Appearance wise, calling the poor thing a little rough around the edge's would be streaching things. The plastic trim pieces on the top of the rear bumper are probably the only things holding both ends up. The passenger door take's both hand's to open. The list grows....

But it run's..... :auto:

so we got a new leading hand at work about 2 weeks ago

the leading hand is the bloke between the supivisor and us on the floor
he works with us but is assinted to manage the smaller things like whos on what project on what day and makeing sure the projects are holding the timeline

basically hes a mechanic thats on a salery (not hourerly), get s company car(a pickup or ute or what ever) and has a **** load more stress

anyhow the new guy we have is quickly becoming the guy no one likes

we have been operating without leading hand for about a year now
with is good because the supivisor gets all his jobs
and alot of stuff is over looked
like we were basically free to just float from one job to anougther (4bay workshop 4 rebuilds going on at anyone time)
so if u didnt like say changing pumps on a loader then u go to a differant project find someone that does and switch so now u are doing their job

it would have been a nightmare from a managerial view point
but everyone was happy
now thats ended
with has made some jobs drag out because in experianced people are doing the jobs that would have otherwise been switched
and u cant go and give assistance or ask for assistance from a person from a differant jproject

he also originates from a truck shop (as in heavy transport not pickups)
so he requires a level of cleanliness thats quite hard to achieve in earth moving
take into note that one hose may be holding 10lts of oil
and u can catch mast but any mechanic will know u never get all the oil
so very quickly u get a quite large oil spill on the ground
with is sually fine as everyday u spend 1/2 an hr cleaning up your mess

thats no good anymore
so now we spend 1/2 the day cleaning up

lastly
all our projects are set out on a work scope that tells us what needs to be looked at or fixed
each job of that scope has a time frame and an allowable cost
if u finish it before the time line then usually well... no one cares and u move on to the next job
but if u finish early then u can do foreigners
with are just jobs that arnt work related
the whole idea doesnt go above the supivisor because we shouldnt really do it but hes ok with it as long as it doesnt interupt the actual work
on friday i took my buggy tank into work to tap out some holes
just 5 M6 holes and a 1/2 npt

at the end of the day i started doing this and noticed the new guy watching
didnt really think anything of it till i finish and he comes over and starts questioning me
fair enough hes new
i explain it and someone else comes over and also tries to explain it
he reckons its the biggest load of rubbish and i should pull my head out
storms off the the supervisor
he comes out
sees iv done everything and cleaned up and im doing a small side project
he couldnt care less and just walks off

now the guys been made to look like a bit of a fool and isnt happy
so he sends a snoty email off to the state maintenance manager (head honcho)
basically bad mouthing the workshop and the supervisor and so on

now the supervisor is in the ****
and not real happy at this bloke
and no one in the work shop is very happy with him
dont know how long he'll last

You just gotta love it when you get a new boss that has a wild hair up his :censored: and thinks he knows more than anyone else around him...... The ones I really don't have any use for are the ones that I have to train because they haven't got a clue what the company does, or how we do it.......

I hate to say it, but it sounds like you got one of those Fowler.... I really wish you good luck getting rid of him.......

Well.....I'm just a dumb carpenter....(at least I play one online) ....but I spent a lot of years in management in factory settings....including my first job at 18 which was exactly the position Fowler describes.....

And I can tell you the things a new guy in management can do to increase his chances of having a short stay......

Shake things up in an environment that is running well....ostracize yourself with those under your control...and go over the head of your immediate supervisor......Sound familiar? ??? Unless the corporate wheels turn very slowly at your place.....I give him two weeks max.....
