Beefed up the hubs. They looked failure prone with the light factory welds. Masked up, with a fan, and upwind with while welding the Zinc covered steel

Added two 8.5" vertical supports in the middle of the outside rails.

Ok I got a little bogged down over the last few weeks. I built a swingset with scrap steel for the kids.

I also went on a 40ish mile camping bike ride with a few friends. There is a trail that runs from the Cascade Mountains in WA, all the way to Idaho. Old train track minus the tracks, and gravel added, bikes/horses only. Pretty cool, lots of swimming on the way. Im in the green shirt.

Currently working on the pedals, throttle linkage, and brake lines. Not much planned beyond camping with the kids and working on the buggy.

Dip plated parts in 50/50 muratic acid & water before welding. You’ll get a much nicer weld and you won’t die. Have you considered joining in a support group for project overkillers? I did once, didn’t help.

Great advice with the acid, I had never considered that. I excercise extreame caution, but that would greatly help.

I am stealing your phrase of "Its not done till it's overdone!" Haha. I just want some Geologist to dig up my dune buggy in 20,000 years and marvel at the level of overkill that was achieved. With enough steel it will outlast any of the modern machine built stuff!

-Pedals installed. Springs/throttle cable/master cylinder to come.

-I opted for standard "car" style pedals. One foot to control both pedals. I can use two if needed, but spatially with my big feet this works better. As such, I also flipped the pedals so I can more easily push the outside edge with my foot/feet.

20,000 years from now when someone digs up that buggy, you know it will be a woman. No one is better at digging up the past than wimmen.

Yup, good choices all around. Mounted the wood fired offset smoker/multi port rocket stove to the front bumper via the 2" reciever. It can be removed like a standard 2" attachment.
