-Cut out the two floor boards from the thick Aluminum diamond plate. These will be recessed like my bed/dash.
-Filled engine with oil.
-Installed the extended throttle cable.
-Picked up 800lbs of dumbells, a bench, and stair climber. Less Alcohol and more pushing steel. Down 15lbs so far, and kept my strength from my lifting days which I was glad to find. 20230805_002602.jpg20230805_002617.jpg20230805_002632.jpg

Yea but, how long before your using up dead dinosaurs?
Oh, she is definitely getting broken in with Dino oil! Here is a weird thought: since Dinos were around for 165ish million years, it is highly likely that almost all H2O molecules on earth were at some point inside of a dinosaur, and therefore most water we drink was at somepoint in time dinosaur pee....... jokes on us! Haha

Prepping the engine before initial break-in/startup. I'm in a Predator 670 group, and there are few mods/edits that seem to be common for owners using the engine for offroad use. One of them is an oil catch can. I am rigging one up, along with replacing the factory fuel lines. I got a cool little one off of Amazon, impressed with the Chinese build quality on this one for the price.

The engine came with pretty flimsy fuel lines, and these engines are known to have fuel delivery issues. My fuel line to the carb was slightly pinched off as well. Swapping out for new fuel lines should help a little, along with my fuel tank gravity feeding into the pulse pump.

Once again I found more projects outside of the dune buggy. I will be working on it every few days at night, I am building a deck near the ocean, so that will be taking the bulk of my time in the coming weeks.

-Oil catch can mounted. Just needs hoses connected.

-Fuel line from pulse pump to carb swapped out with new, better quality line.

-Fuel line re-routed.

-Fuel line from tank to pulse pump added.

-Swapped out the fuel filter with a better one.20230823_014913.jpg20230823_014933.jpg

Ok, got the oil catch can lines installed. Took some time to get a clean setup. The can was only $30 or so, not bad. Bottom screws off to dump. The top cover even has a small knurled mini dip stick to check oil level. Apparently on rough terrain the 670 will often get oil into the carb via the crank case vent (I believe thats what its called). Solution is to either run with lower than suggested oil, or install a catch can to collect oil as it travels up the crank case vent hose. Just need a battery and gas to break it in. I need to take the dang smoker/bbq off the bumper, but its just fun to look at. Im thinking of running duel smaller batteries, but thats a week or so out. I need to keep building the deck.20230825_010112.jpg

I use the same catch can on my mini bike.
The mount, that bolts to the can, broke right under the 2 small screws. I quess from vibration.

Here a vid of fuel issues with the 670 on buggies, jus incase you havnt already seen it.

Nice build, 👍.

Dude what’s wrong with your hands? If the bracket breaks on you just get a giant worm type hose clamp and clamp it with that.

-Bought a 12v 35 amp battery on sale at HF for about $65. Rigged up a connection with jumper cables and started up the engine for the first time! All looked/sounded good. I was a little nervous with quality control as my Predator 670 was made in China about month after the covid outbreak. Ive noticed a few forced mached serial numbers on different components. But she fired right up! The manual suggested a 36amp battery, but the HF one seemed fine. If I run into issues ill just get another and run duel batteries.

What? No video?
Right! I have one but its the wrong file format. I'll make a youtube video for the first ride. The stock exhaust keeps it pretty quiet for the v-twin. Kids helping act as my reverse. Main things left are a chain tensioner, connecting brake/throttle lines, getting supports in to hold the floor pans (diamond plate, and they are already cut), and paint. I think I will pony up and put an alternator on it too, lights are nice for both practicality and saftey.
