Working on the bed. I still need more supports underneath around the perimeter. Its recessed as to help stuff not to roll out, same as the dash and thats my plan for the floor too. Man, grinding these sheets of Aluminum for fitment has to be one of the worst noises ive ever hears. Just flat out ear shattering, even with hearing protection.

Also, a pic fron the front of the swingarm showing the lower support I put in last week.

Figuring out how long the needs to be. Im sort of winging the gear ratios off of what other folks have said using the 670cc on a buggy. #50 chain. Drive sprockets are 10,12, and 14 tooth. Final sprocket is 65 tooth. I plan on leaving the three drive sprockets on there so I can play with gear ratios on the fly. Ill make some sort of roller chain tensioner, probably with a skateboard wheel/bearings. Ill have enough space on the jackshaft to slide sprockets to properly line up with the 65 tooth sprocket. The little drive sprockets were only around $12 per, so once I do test runs, I may buy a few more depending on what ratios I need. 10 tooth is the lowest I could go, but the company I bought them from can make them in any tooth count above that.

Thats a cool idea. Is there a keyway in that shaft? If not, won’t the sprocket slip?
A poly chain tensioner works well for me, a skateboard wheel should work great!

Thanks, hopefully it works, if not ill just run a single or double drive sprocket. Yup, they have a keyway and two set screws. Thanks for the pic, could you possibly send one more showing how you adjust/apply force with the poly chain tensioner? Im always grateful for other folks brain power! Thats a nice clean setup you got there. Alot of important stuff in a small space.

Can’t get a pic for a few days. so picture this:

a piece of barstock of your choosing. One end is A and the other is B.
fab up a pivot at point A and a spring tensioner with an EZ adjustment(wing nut and screw) from point B to any convieniant spot. Put your poly wheel somewhere between A and B and adjust with prefiouslly mentioned wing nut and screw. Plans available upon request.your results may vary.

Thanks, I think I was over thinking it. I dug through my motorcycle parts bin and found a new nylon chain roller setup, so I just need to make tbe bracket and get a spring.

Congratulations!! Hope the kid ain’t in high school by the time you’re done! :roflol:
Haha, hopefully not! I should have it done this summer. Hopefully in July sometime. But if it takes longer, im OK with that. I have to be careful not to be 100% productive as im realizing I only have so much time with my kiddos, and the time together is what counts most. I am going to have them help me primer the frame though, they are going to love that one! My 4 year old daughter got to use the dead blow hammer, and ratchets yestersay. Today it was clippers and pole saws. We are going to build a small tree house, so that will slow me down a bit. I build about 90% of the buggyv at night. Day is when ill make my cuts/grinds. Nights are welding, bolting/unbolting, drilling holes, planning, and prepping materials for quick daytime cuts.

You should let the kids paint it. Let them put their own spin on how it should look. Who cares if it ends up looking like a bad acid trip after Woodstock. Your kids did it and it’s their vision. They’ll love you for it!

Congrats on the "new" kid :cheers2:
...& yes, spend as much time with them as you can :wai:
...& kart is looking good too

Earlier, you'all were discussing chain tensioners
...& Master Hack posted a pic of one

Q:
Shouldn't the tensioner be (mounted below) on the "slack side" of the drive chain?
...& not on the upper (torque'y) side?

Unless Ima seein' it wrong

Damn, can’t get away anything around here! You are correct! That roller is really just a guide, the tensioner is below on the correct side. But it is near impossible to get a pic of that area. The point being a poly roller works. And l was curious if anyone would notice.
