ok well i do weld with two hands (one holding the trigger and the other to rest the nossel on)
also good point about the differant wall thicknesses ill try that
lastly i dont think rust is a problem as all the matirial is kinda new and came from the same rack with no visable rust but ill wire brush it first any way

Anyway, you're right in trying not to confuse the newbs. I'm completely self taught so I don't know, but- don't they teach the stacked dime/rosette method early on?

Don't be impressed, there are tons of other guys that are able to do the same things i am, just saying i have a little more experience, than the average hobbyman.

Don't know what they teach all around the globe, but i do know, that you wouldn't learn dime/rosette-welding, prior to learning about propper welding settings, basic welding technique (straight line welding), material handling (clean, non-rusty materials), material-joining (mainly as little gap as possible, between to pieces of metal, supposed to be joined by welding), in Denmark.

Firstly we focus on the simple, really basic stuff, based on the: "you've got to learn to crawl, before you can walk" idea.
Then after the basics are spot-on, we move on to other, more advanced techniques.
And if i may say so, it works exceedingly well !

Oh BTW Toystory ! I love your signature, that: Wrench, Wheel, Wreck, Repeat-sentence, really is the essence of buggyracing and selftaught fabbing experience !
I'm a danish Automechanic, even graduated with honours, but building buggies and karts is so completely different from cars, allthough there are similarities.

turns out im liucky
i changed the oil in the engine and flushed the bowls then hooked up the batt and cranked it over
it scared the crap outa me cause on the first try nothing happened cause the batt was flat
getting a second batt i hooked it up turn over for 10 secs then fireed up
sounds good no miss fireing and a bloke who restores old bikes said its all good

How far along is the rest, been a few days since you last posted pics, but i'm guessing you're frame isn't entirely done yet or what ?

BTW I've been meaning to ask you, since i myself teach shopclass, i was wondering: How much time do you have each week, to work on the buggi ?!
In Denmark, shopclass usually isn't more then a few hours pr. week, and the tools are all locked away, and the power to the larger tools such as: Belt Grinder, Welder, Large Drilling machines, Lathes and whatnot, is shut off, by a special switch, wich you need to re-activate with a key that the students don't have acces to (it's a matter of insurance and Danish government laws about younger people and dangerous equipment) so they can't really do that much, when theres no teacher present.
But i don't know how much time you can spend in the shop, other places in the world ?

im a bit slow cause we get 45 min each day for 4 days a week and the yrs 10s have got there progects in the way of mine and i couldnt be bothered moveing it
also we have the same situation here with OHS we can only work while under supervision (today hen i started my engine i had to have a teacher there and a fire extingisher at the ready as it had no exorst on )

oh yeah i have only got two weeks left then it is term break and im going home for 2 weeks

i looked in to how to hook up my air box and it turns ot there is no air filter in it
so i was wondering how much mods are requied to fit pods instead and will these still work in so much dust the driver is nealy dead

You will need to re-jet the carburettor for the increased airflow. Since you're not using the stock exhaust (I think...) you should be re-jetting anyway. Look up the cm250 forums (if there is such a thing) and ask what jets to use. You might even be able to buy jets from someone on the forum for cheap.

Well... I had to take mine off to re-jet them. You need to be in a really clean environment when you take the bowl off so I would be taking the carbs off the bike and inside to put in the new jets.

Oooh bugger, thats less then my students get all together...
Or acturally, i'm only supposed to teach, and i only get paid for, 2 full hours on wednesday afternoon...

But since i have the experience and education for using power tools safely, and i also enjoy myself teaching, the headmaster's fine about allowing me to take 3 volluntary hours tuesday afternoon, and 3-5 volluntary hours on thursday morning,
as long as the students don't skip any other class, to be in mine !
So i've got every students schedule hanging in my class, a watch that buzzes 10-15 min. before any new period starts, and i check the boys schedules.
Should they by accident or on purpose forget their other class' themselves, i'm then able to remind them.
No one has forgotten and had to be reminded yet though i can say... A little proud of my hardworking boys, keeping their noses in the books !

I would grind those back and do it again. You didnt contact the two pieces in a lot of it. Just to be on the safe side weld it again.

the bloke there said u can spray some special stuff on them to make them flow less
i can use that till i can be bothered to rejet it
