I would try it, one fellow on the edge site said the the power rack if ok to shorten, just plug off the hydraulic holes.

There used to be heaps on shortening a rack on here but they updated their forum and there's nothing there anymore. They'l probably bring back the old threads soon.

Otherwise, look on The Edge Forum, I'm sure there's something on there.

Thanks

Hayden

you could build a rack, the idea i have in mind might not work as good as some fancy one, but it would work, and it would be cheap!

what didn't work well about it? (i have a few ideas of what wouldn't, but lets here what the actual problem is)

p.s. sounds like you and me had the same idea! lol

update
one week out and this is the state
the second pic is the nearly finished steering
the third is the method i used to conect the existing throttel cable to the extention (i know its dodgy but it works for now)
the last pic is the top back where i put the eletronics. All the top section is bolted on incuding the centre pole so i can pull the engine threw the top
the seat was a swivel office chair but surprizeing comftable.< (sorry for the spelling i cant work it out)

i just finished the last peice of school work ever but as i live in the boarding house i am staying for a week and i get 26hrs remaining to finish it

i cant find the correct thread but these are pics of our work shop
we have 4 welding bays but i cant use them and the buggy wont fit.
this is the welder i use as it is the easiest thereby the most effective.
we have 4 lathes ranging in size.
2 chop off saws and the material rack.
the small allyway is where i work as if i built inside i wouldnt be able to get it out.
the buggy is currently around the corner which in the top pic, i weld there as this allyway is right next to a class room and u can guess why welding there is a bad idea.

ok this is my favorite issue
electronics!!!!
i went to start it yesterday to test the tensioner sprocket and it refused to fire (my fire i mean spark).
then i fiddled checking grounds and plugs and they were all good but then when i tryed again it refused to turn over at all. soo i got a new batt (when i mean new i mean brand new). that one allowed it to turn over for a good 4 secs then nothing

now i have some possabilitys
# i disconected the earth of the wireing hanness from the engine and grounded it to the frame but when i hot wired it back to the frame nothing changed
#i have welded while the engine was attached
#the CDI box and distributor is bolted to a bar above the engine adn inturn that bar is bolted to the main frame. do i need to ground these items to the engine
(see pic)

well, sorted the spark issue
turns out id done a crap solder and the welder had caused a fuse to blow.

iv got 1 day left to complete it and ill just pop rivet the floor in tommoro
last question, because i havent rejeted the carb would a peice of duct tape around the air filter work to reduce air flow, or is there a better way to get the mixture right for now. i just need to prove to the teacher it acctually works.

As far as the jetting goes, if all you need is to fire it up and go for a quick little spin, then I wouldnt worry TOO much about it.
however, make sure it doesnt get very hot.
the key thing about jetting is, the leaner it runs, the stronger it runs. however the leaner it runs the quicker its life expectancy drops.
essentialy, being an air cooled engine, the measly lil amoun of fuel entering it is the only thing to keep it cooled, aside from airflow on the engine itself.

it might make it a bit PITA to start with the wrong fuel mixture, or make it run a bit wonky either before or after it warms up..

if its lean, it may take a few extra mins to warm up.. but once it does, it will over heat quickley.

ata nyrate, as long as it isnt too far off of stoic mixture, then it should be perfectly fine for a feww mins, just dont let her get too warmed up.

as it is, yes, theres no reason blocking of some of the filter/airflow wouldnt help, just like a choke, and likely the smarter idea.. lol :D

long time no action

well i got a welder so i added a roll cage and am redoing the steering
i am going to put a 2:1 gear ratio with 6b sprockets to make the steering less sensitive

when i drove it at school it was 1/2 a turn from full lock to full lock

i think now iv added a cage the 250 is too under powered so ill try and find a 450 and drop it in. Ill have to redo some of my first work as the engineering and welding was s***

ill drop the 250 into my rideon mower that was my first cart

nope i drove it on the oval at school but the steering was too sensative and i did a gaint skid on the cricket oval and nearly rolled it

whjen i got it home i tryed to drive it on the heaverly corrigated road but because the front end was so far out i could only make 30kph (18mph aprox) before i lost control and put into a ditch

now iv made adgustable camber and redone the steering it is almost self correcting
