buggy go kart thing with overpriced cm250 engine

ok arfter a year on this site and gathering enoght knowlege to start a build i scavanged a quad bike for a slap of carlton dry and an engine for $600AUS then started in our school workshop
please point out any flaws or issues in the design
this is my front end and steering

i gotta ask is this going to be too long at nearly 2.4 m(7.8 feet)

looking good, mine is 2.1m (?.? feet) i think yours might be a bit to long.
interesting steering you got there, haven't seen it done before.

its the same stiffness as a quad bike
the sensativity may be an issue
bugger bout the length i guess i am going to have the engine right behind me
and put in a fire wall
how thick is a fire wall

As thin as you want, in a kart it's basically just a heat shield because in the event of a fire you should be able to jump out before it burns through even 1.6mm sheet.

Are you planning on modifying that ATV swing-arm to make it wider? If not then your buggy will come out narrow in the rear which will in make it look even longer. You can make the buggy shorter by mounting the motor next to you like this one:

thatll make it too wide as it only has a 1m width
i think i can move the engine forward a bit
i had it siting about 40cm behind to protect me from heat and stop the enginge over heating

mine engine is about 0.1m behind me, but I've got the oil cooler up front to keep the engine cool

so 100mm ok but mine doesnt have an oil cooler

you might want to make some air scoops to blow air across the engine.

You can use an automatic trans cooler from a car if your a bit strapped for cash.
