I have no clue how this happened. I messaged Amazon to see if I could split a payment between two cards, one being a gift card.

The answer was neigh, but somehow was given a $10 credit for asking which was used to get some 8oz of cutting fluid.

Free Fluid! He was wrongly accused.
Cut him loose.

I began rewatching Prison Break today. I used to like it a lot. Since I’m starting to put my frame together, this scene was fitting.

I guess the 5 speed Harbor Freight Benchtop Drill Press stepped pulley doesn’t exist in the outside world.

I think it’s about 1/2” bore. (12-14mm)
OD of unit about 80mm
5 stepped
8mm V-belt width.

I see lots of 150mm OD.
Or units for larger width v-belts.
The stock belt says K-660 1601
Smallest pulley is about 28mm
Largest pulley about 65mm
Height of unit about 53mm

I like m&m s with almonds. But w&w s taste better!
I wanted to try to get a third of the same stepped pulley units to make things simpler, but there are other ways. And that setup wouldn’t get 750 rpm down to 250. It would only about 375 rpm.IMG_5431.jpeg

I just think a drill press that can run at 375 RPM to 6000 RPM is more useful than one that varies from 750 to 3000 RPM.

If y’all have drill presses, what speeds can it turn?

The recommended speed for this 1.5” TCT bit seems to be around 220 RPM.

1.375” - 250 rpm
1.75” - 190 rpm

1.5” (38mm) should be around 220 rpm? No?

This second chart suggest maybe 360 RPM for 38mm bit in plain steel, but the range is 300-600 RPM for 31mm - 40mm range of bit size.

The slowest speed on my drill press is 760 rpm.
Getting that down to 380 RPM puts me a lot closer to “ideal”speed based on the charts for 1.5” hole saw for steel. The 600 rpm on the chart seems to be meant for the smaller end of the 31-40mm range.

760 RPM seems to only “work” for about a 1” max diameter hole saw in steel. And too fast to use for stainless even at 1/2” diameter.

A point on the circumference of a 1.5” hole saw moves at 5 ft per second at 760 rpm.

A point on the circumference of a 1.0” hole moves 3.3 ft per second at 760 rpm.

Just showing how a larger diameter hole saw must spin slower for the “tooth to material” relative velocity to remain constant.

A bear and a rabbit are taking are taking a poop in the woods. The bear turns to the rabbit and asks, “Do you have problems with poop sticking to your fur?”
The rabbit said, “No.”
So the bear wiped his butt with the rabbit,
