What type of saw should I use to make angled cuts through 1/8” steel tubes, the largest being 1.5” x 2.5”.

I was thinking this portable band with table.
It is about $230. Or this band saw about $300?

It seem the small bench comes only set up for 30/45/60 degree cuts?

Other options? Better? Cheaper? I have a sawzall, an angle grinder, jigsaw, oscillating multi-tool. My circular saw was stolen and never replaced.

Do I need a new tool? Everybody loves a new saw. The larger bandsaw will cost about $340 after coupon and tax with fee included to get it delivered. I couldn’t change to pick up option. You're WAY over thinking it.

Assuming these are frame tubes you want them mitered and mashed.

What that means is cut them with a holes saw according to the diameter that the end being cut is getting welded to. So if a 2" tube is to be welded onto a 3" then youd want a 3" hole saw preferably onna drill press.
The mashing is because you want to slightly oval the tube to bring the longer sections closer together making a tighter tubing butt joint weld.

Haven’t even started looking into welding joints yet. My welding skills are absent and my welder is a HF 120 V flux core welder that I converted to DC electrode negative (or something like that - I’ve forgotten it by now). I think it was originally set up to weld with AC instead of DC. IIRC DC is preferred for flux core and I think I had to switch polarity inside the unit, and added a cooling fan.

Oh hell I'd just mark the length off and go around it with a small square to ensure straightness (or straight lines for angled cuts) and just go slow and careful with a grinder with a cut wheel on it.

Even a variable speed sawzall like my cordless ryobi is going to be sloppy because of vibration and blade waggle. The issue with using a jigsaw is they are prone to pretty wicked kickback and again they too are prone to blade waggle.

I disagree because one whom overthinks also tends to over complicate simple things. As for the latter half, I definitely can agree with.

I know a little about a vast multitude of various things...
I know a lot about quite a lot...
And yet I know nothing of everything.

I like chop saws.
I could agree to that or nice multi, angle miter saw with a bimetal cutting wheel blade attached.

I was going from experience using what I have to work with (bare minimum and nothing fancy) and what was listed as being had on hand

Maybe I’ll just get a stand for my angle grinder?

Can’t really afford a new tool right now, but it seems a sliding compound dual bevel mitre saw would be the most versitle. The larger the better.

Are these saws variable speed?
Some of steel cutting blades say max rpm 2000,
but the saws give no load speed of like 5k rpm. What’s the difference between a chop and mitre saw? Do they turn at different RPMs or just that they use an abrasive disc?

They are basically the same but If I am not mistaken the difference is a miter will do any angle in two directions by utilizing deck rotation and head tilt both...chop saw tends to be a turning deck only

I wouldn't trust a 2500 rpm metal disc on a 5k+ saw. They definitely make abrasive cutting discs in those sizes, I've seen them and they are rated reasonably high rpms. Just don't accidentally get a masonry blade, it won't last long.
