I'm using polyester fiberglass resin (same as used in most boats)
...& the "mixing" instructions say it uses 2 oz. MEKP catalyst (activator)
...to 1 gal of resin

So, I dids me some figurin' (like Jethrow Bodine, from The Beverly Hillbillies) ;)

* Notice, I had to "break" the Gallon numbers, for the resin, down to into ounces ('cause that is how the cup is graduated)
...& the Ounce numbers for the catalyst, down into ml ('cause that is how that cup is graduated)
SAM_5251.JPG
In the videos, they say to NOT mix up too big of a "batch" at a time

They say that a large "batch" will start "activating" (hardening up)
...before you get it all spread out

For accurate measurin' purposes, I rounded up a couple of 1q. paint mixing cups (for measurin' the resin)
...& a small medicine cup (for measurin' the catalyst)
SAM_5252.JPG
OK...Let's do this :2guns:
SAM_5276.JPG
For a small/medium sized "batch"
...I chose 16oz of resin
...& used ~7.39ml of catalyst :cheers2:

Also, from my YouTube edumication
...I learned a lot from, Joe Buskin from Fish Bump TV :cheers2:
...& he recommends/uses a (2) pot method (mix in (1) cup, then pour into a shallow pan for dispensing)

* He says that having the resin "spread out" in a pan
...instead of "stacked up" in a cup
...helps to reduce any "thermic reaction" (getting hot)
...which would basically be "premature activation" :innocent::devil2:

Workin' on "breakin' 'er loose from the mold/form :cornut:
SAM_5285.JPG
You can see a "color change" under the material
...as the piece separates
SAM_5287.JPG
Worked on "loosening up" the front too

A sharpie is a nice rounded "prop"
...to help "space" 'em apart
SAM_5286 (1).JPG
Everything was "gravy" except the fender "side walls
...as them little guys "stuck" like a sombich (technical term)
...but, I "got 'er out/off" :sifone:
SAM_5288.JPG
Hey Denny,
Can ya "see" how it's a "mold" now? ;)

Now flip the part you just made over and wax it up and apply your mold release. Then cast a new smooth part that needs little work and minimal sanding!

I set up a fiberglass "cutting/sanding area"
...away from my usual "working area"

The breeze was blowing towards that "open area"
...but, I set up a fan to "help" exhaust any FG dust created...too ;)
SAM_5334.JPG
Did some measurin' & markin'
...to help create some straight lines...for cuttin'
...usin' a piece of thin/flexible steel strip

Donned some "dashing" DIY PPG :cornut:
SAM_5333.JPG
Yup, these fine blades, in an Oscillating tool, cut thru FG like butter :2guns:
SAM_5335 (1).JPG
...& like the guy in the video said " the dust just falls" &/or settles
&
Doesn't really "create a cloud" &/or become very "airborne"
...& was easily "brushed" into a bag for disposal :cheers2:

I got all of the edges of this floorboard/front fender "trimmed up"

Then, did some soothin' on all of the edges (just hand sanded to help "keep the dust down")
SAM_5350.JPG
...& some roundin' off, of all of the corners
SAM_5351 (1).JPG

Used a 1" hole saw to "cutout" some nice circles (so the top of the slots are nicely rounded)
...& then, the Multi-tool, to "cut out" the rest of the slots

Test fittin' of the fender/floorboard
SAM_5359 (1).JPG
Looks ta be a bit "off"
SAM_5360 (1).JPG
Ya can see the "off-ness" even more, form this angle
SAM_5361.JPG
I used the "pilot hole" from drilling the first 1" hole
...& then, just "off-set" the piece, a bit
...to remove the material ;)
Before
SAM_5362.JPG
During
* See where the "saw" is cutting?
SAM_5364 (1).JPG
After
SAM_5366 (1).JPG
Another Test fit
SAM_5370 (1).JPG
Yup, that's a lookin' better :2guns:
SAM_5372 (1).JPG
Now, the top edge of that front panel, can be marked, for cuttin'
SAM_5374 (2).JPG
Kinda like this :sifone:
