So i was getting ready to buy new carburetors and i decided to stop by a buddies dragbike shop here in the city. Well he just so happened to have a set of 36mm carbs exactly like the new ones sold on ebay but the ebay ones are 34mm's. He said i can buy all 4 for alot less than those 2 new ones and they just came off a running bike they bought for the engine cases. Does anybody think the extra 2mm larger size will make a big difference ?

And the Anniversary of Cars and Coffee here is next weekend so im trying to ride it in and have some fun seems how all i gotta do is battery, carbs, oil change, and bolt the front brakes on. Then it will get rode for a few weeks and get torn back apart for some color, polishing, electronic ignition, lighting, and other goodies to finish it up.

Heres the pic.............. And look at those awesome ported and polished inlets !

Two mm will make a difference,it most certainly will shift the power delivery to a higher RPM range,be prepared to lose a little bottom end.

I kinda thought it would loose torque. I went from 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 exhaust pipe also to loose some torque and gain some upper power. Hopefully with my cams and electronic ignition it will even everything out. For the price i cant go wrong at all. Im getting all 4 for the price of 1 !!!

My downfall is getting the jetting and needles set correctly. That can be a nightmare sometimes

It is great when one gets a deal like that,it can be difficult sometimes to get all the circuits dialed in but it is worth the time and effort in the long run not only for performance but for the life of the engine too.You will have to deal with all of the circuits, pilot jets, needle jets, needles and the adjustments of the needles, slides, main jets and air screws,it can be a pain like I said but well worth it!

Yes sir I appreciate it, I already got the call in for the title 42. Was gonna buy a bike from dealer yesterday but decided to finalize the title instead. Doing a vin check tomorrow to be sure it's all good then about a month later will have title officially. So hopefully everything will come together around that time.

I wanted my deadline really badly but its not gonna happen. Was in the hospital again. But its starting to cool off here lately and I'm still collecting more parts. Will get back at it shortly.

I wanted my deadline in the morning really bad so I tried again. I had the original brakes laying around here somewhere but can't find them anymore. And my carburetor guy is at the track racing so no carbs either.

BUT for your viewing pleasure got the paint off the front fork tubes and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff done..............................

Well been trying to get it running. Right after my last post my buddy called with the carbs. Tried and no spark. Finally tracked it to a bad condenser which was new last month I might add. So I scrounged one up from a old vw distributor. Tried it and it started and just when the exhaust and cylinders started getting warm it crapped out again. On the plus side I found my brakes looking for a condenser. Hahahaha

So looks like I'm officially done til I build me a electronic ignition setup cause I don't know why it keeps killing the condenser..................................open for suggestions. Hint hint electrical guys

Pic with carbs ........................

So I have a moderator question for one of you...............,..

It's gonna be cutting it really close for paint and polishing. If I make my video with it running and driving correctly and then take it apart for paint and polish and don't get it back together does that still qualify ? Cause its gonna be alot more cash flow to get the proper wheels, tires, and dress up parts to finalize it like I want. That and I want to ride it first to be sure it all works properly before powder coating so I don't have to redo it and take it all back apart again.

how is this thing gonna turn without a differential? You will have to slide it out on every turn. You need a diff in a bad way.

When I roll it around it turns just fine. I put the engine where everything is weight distributed evenly with a touch on the front wheel.

Well, I'll answer it anyway...

There's nothing in the rules that says it must be painted, all that's needed to qualify is a running, ridable machine with a remote throttle & remote kill switch (ie: you can't simply operate the engine throttle or kill switch)... & brakes... obviously...

Just to give you an idea, when the build off officially ended two years ago, my kart wasn't painted (mainly due to poor weather conditions), it was painted a week later so, after the comp end date but, before the voting end date...

Serious updates...............

1. Brakes done and working
2. Went ahead and ordered brand new carburetors and prejetted them for my application
3. Got the new gauges installed and cables ran.
4. Put new fork springs in too raise the front end up a little bit.
5. Put the new british style headlight bucket on (but im missing something).
6. Bought the new rectifier/regulator and bigger battery for street use. So now it will charge and i will have lights and electric start.

Only waiting on ignition to be finalized and shipped then i can wire the whole thing and get it started and go for a spin finally !!

Its wired and lights work. Also put the headlight switch in the bucket for cleaner wiring ! It also turns over alot better with the ford solenoid and bigger battery.

Literally just waiting on ignition to ride it now. Its being shipped out tomorrow. He called and confirmed its ready to go.

It runs..............

Carbs need tuning but it starts first time everytime. And i drove up the street a couple times and back. I can turn the wheels all the way and it turns really good. I can make a u turn on a regular neighborhood street and still have room left !
