I have to ask....what is the reason for having a tensioner? Can you not get the chain tight enough?

Nice tensioner though...

Micro suspension?

Correct! Forgot about that didn't ya Paul... :D

Due to the suspension, as the axle moves, the chain becomes loose but, becuase it's micro, there's not a lot of travel so the tensioner does the job of keeping the chain tight enough...

Enjoyin' the progress Fab. Polishing is a labor of love...you get to enjoy the fruits of your hard work, it saves you some $$, and there's something oddly enjoyable about sitting in front of a buffing wheel for hours.

:iagree: entirely. Nice work Ed but, maybe that would've been better in my other thread... :D

It really does look good, and more importantly, it seems to work really well. I love this kart. Super job, man. It looks great!

Just a few small updates:

-New chain tensioner done. I ended up removing the half link from the chain because the engine was sitting too far forward; now it sits in the centre of the slots...

-Rocker cover painted & installed...

-Polished the tacky looking tierod ends. The whole steering assembly was chrome apart from the faded cadmium plating on the heim joints so, it had to go...

Carefull Tony..
you may be infected with gloss-fever already;
if you don't watch out you may end up polishing the engine after all ;)

And it'd be a shame to have a shiny kart that isn't allowed to touch the dirty road anymore :D

I like your tensioner. I might have to try and replicate that.

No probs, let me know if you need a hand. I was reasonably easy bit, you will need a lathe...

I think I'm done now, I'll just finish the front wheel & that'll be it... on this kart...
