Ten years since I installed the springs. 10W40 with MMO once a year.No problems to report. We don't rev the whee out of it every time.

We have a 420 with ARC flywheel and rod, stock cam, 22 pound springs and 1.2:1 rocker arms. I think it has a .010 head gasket, too, but don't remember for sure. We have been abusing it on a mud mower for about 10 years. It revs pretty good and has some pure pulling power. Top speed is not...

Generators use tapered shaft. To my knowledge, only generators and some chipper/shredders use tapered shaft. In the OP photo, I believe we are looking at where the throttle control will need to be swapped or modified. The thing that looks like a lever with an idle speed screw...that is the speed...

Even constant RPM engines have a governor. Governors use centrifugal weights to control the throtthe through a lever and a spring. Find that spring and look for a way to pull on that sping to move that lever. Pictures and we can show you the solution.

Get some dry moly lube spray, take it back apart, clean ans lube the inside of the driver unit. Sometimes they just get gummed up and don't retract all the way. I use it as a sign to clean and lube it.

Boat seats come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Some are nice and cheap, some are stupid expensive, but they are worth a look.

That spring has a big loop on one end of it. That loop goes to the H shaped part on the governor arm and should pull down to open the throttle. As the engine revs up, the governor arm will pull up on that spring to maintain engine RPMs.

I think the parts will self clearance with use. You could speed up the process by lubing it with valve lapping compound. I wouldn't but it would work.

The problem is usually that funny spring between the block and the tank brace. They are tough to get in there correctly. It is easy to get mad and stretch it. The photo also looks like someone bent the arm where that spring attaches to the throttle cable part on the tank brace.
