Those brackets look terrible! Can you return them and source some better ones? I managed to find some that only have a pilot hole on one side, so I can open them up to the dimension I need using a pillar drill.

If you stick to the plans then you need an 8" rack. I didn't understand the principles of the front suspension set up until it was too late and made my suspension block too wide. If you decide to go with an 8" rack, I'll gladly buy the 11" rack from you as thats what I need to make mine work :)

My best friend in Australia has nearly finished building an Edge Piranha, and I asked him if he was going to powder coat his chassis. He said that he wouldn't, because the powder coat is quite flexible and would hide any cracks that appear in his welds.

Thanks Silver, I understand the problem with the rack, now I have to work out a solution. I don't really want to start chopping up the rack in case I have to return it, and I know from many hours searching that a rack like yours and Bills can't be found in the UK. Anyone have any suggestions?

I thought I might get away with the bolts as the wear issue did cross my mind. I can install bushings at a later date if it causes problems. Could you explain why the steering rack is unsuitable?

The reduction gearbox has a centrifical clutch built in, so thats not a problem. I used this gearbox instead of a torque converter as they are way too expensive over here.
