Howdy folks! I just wanted to show you a couple toys I picked up recently, I'm pretty excited about both of them!

First up is a 1984 Yamaha IT200 (enduro) (a first year model) that I picked up completely dismantled for $300! The only pieces together was the frame with the steering stem and swingarm, most of the rest was in a large bin and a pail. I spent a couple hours assembling it (as pictured) so it wasn't just a pile of parts and could start taking inventory on what might be missing or needing to be replaced. So far it's looking like it's about 95% complete but will probably need a new crankshaft, rod, piston, rebore on the jug and a rear axle. My goal is to have it done and on the road for summer of 2022.

Next up is this beauty 1974 Bolens G10 garden tractor, she runs, drives, steers and cuts just fine! The only real issue with it is the seat and the paint job, the cracked a$$ seat has been duct taped (black of course) so I don't get jabbed by the sharp vinyl and so the padding isn't exposed to moisture. One day I'll do something about it but i'm far too busy these days to worry about it right now. Don't mind the "bug eye" headlights, I'll be making a bracket to tuck them behind the headlight holes for a factory look. I've already rewired them with a relay and waterproof switch and have installed rectangular running lights in the rear in the factory location, I'll get them wired up with the headlights within the next few days.

It has some pretty neat features like a belt driven front/rear PTO for driving implements (mower deck, snowblower, tiller, post hole digger ect.), a hose port on the mower deck for cleaning it, grease fittings everywhere and high/low range on the belt drive making it a 6 speed (with reverse)! Seems like it was ahead of it's time to me and has survived the test!

Curse me or call me crazy all you want for trading a 1979 Chevy half ton pickup strait up for it, truth be told I had plans for the old girl but haven't made any progress on it in 10 years and it's been taking up space so time to let it go... it was far from pretty and needs a full resto, both my buddy and I are happy with the trade though and we both know the fate of each machine so maybe there's some comfort in that!? :roflol:

Contemplating starting a thread for my long awaited (and still awaited) buggy build. Start it off as an advice thread to get ideas, then turn it into a build thread once I'm working on it. Having purchased plans, I have no idea what I can and cannot disclose about it. Only thing that they say in the plans is, do not copy, print...basically distribute the plans without consent of Badland Buggy. Because I have questions about some things I want to modify on it either due to longevity concerns or availability of certain items. Do you guys think it's too soon to start a thread for it?

I was thinking the first few pages or however long it ends up being before the build starts, would be pretty much that. Get a lot of the nitty gritty out of the way and keep it all in one thread.

Thank you and yes I agree it's awesome I'm loving it! I got the running lights wired up yesterday after work

Yes it's a 10hp Tecumseh and I'd be glad to get some more photos tomorrow.

That looks like a solid machine, if I had to guess I'd say it was Roper built like StillKikn's Sears he's doing such a great job on! Yes yours is "shift on the fly" capable as it has a Hydrostatic (I was able to read it on the dashboard sticker) I love the beer, er... drink holder! Lol. A Briggs style muffler sticking out the side eh? Looks primed to make it a stack like on my '69 MTD (I need to reprep and repaint it I was in a rush when I did it. Lol).

Bought me an AWD 5 speed Subaru... it pulls hard. So hard, that I'm willing to cut into my Mitsubishi budget to fix it up...

What year and model?! How about some pictures!? I love Subbies they're great cars! Maybe one day I'll find a good one....

No spark is generally a fixable issue (obviously) but I think I see where you're going with this... my 7hp Briggs with points is deadly reliable (and still running strong after 50 years!) so it's hard to go wrong with one! Lol Amazing motors those old flatheads are!

**edit**

There you are Mckutzy! Looks like it was merged into my last post!

Yeah that's a thing now. I guess if you want to post after you had previously posted, you need to wait 24 hours exactly, otherwise it'll auto-merge/edit your previous post.

One could only hope lol. I guess according to Alex it was always supposed to be like that, but it's been broken for a while. But now it works. Not sure if it's supposed help keep post count down or what. I found it out yesterday when I was trying to post on my Think Tank. Thought I was hitting the edit button by mistake, Haha nope.

My first (and hopefully last) AWD tranny replacement. 2005 Ford Freestyle wagon had a CVT failure in January, and just getting around to replacing it.

I made adjustment to get the tranny jack flat against the k-member on driver side and need to get another floor jack so I can let down the passenger side .

My condolences to the amount of pain you needed to endure to do such a task. I see this daily at work and no, not my cup of tea.

Albeit I'm not really surprised nowadays, but I didn't know ford even had CVT transmission in there cars..
I guess they're the remnants of the past that people are willing to now fix..
Nissan with their horror storys of their CVT transmissions, kinda brings to mind...

I had a Nightmare Nova, I have a Prius Smasher, I have a Moocher Monterey (Glorified Ford crapshot van), and now I have the Spine Snapper (Any suggestions for better names please feel free) Never has slightly modified stock (NGK plugs from Champion) look so ugly and tried to kill me as many times in 5 mins as this has. 6spd manual running the same crappy stock pulleys as they day I bought it from Sears. Take the deck off and the thing make's Dom's wheelies look like chump bumps. 1/2 throttle, ease off the clutch/brake, wait for the clunk and the thing tries to buck anyone off it can.

Only a handful have/had them. The Ford Fivehundred had an optional one, that funny enough was more reliable than the regular automatic. Ones in Subarus and Nissans (same company) have a tendency to go out. Not sure why Jatco has a problem with CVTs, even though Subaru is highly rated. That and headgasket issues galore on the boxer engines.

Oh boy , that looks like a terrible job on the ground. Im so sorry.

You ain't kidding :p

I finally found something I have wanted/needed for my ol 69' cub!

It's not an original IH cast iron version, but a later MTD aluminum
"creeper drive". It will however bolt right on the 106's cast iron transmission, with some slight modification to the gear lever and a driveshaft trim , should work just fine. I will add a level plug and fill it with 90w gear oil, as the grease does not stay on the gears well, and is considered a good upgrade.

In Hi gear = 1 to 1 ratio

Lo gear = 2 to 1 ratio

Ontop the factory bulletproof 3 speed = 6 forward, 2 reverse gears.
Great for the 3in oversize tires and weights I installed! 3rd gear is fast right now, no more overdrive is needed.
