okay if anyone's still following this im starting over on the bike. instead of just slapping it all together i've now stripped it down to the bare frame and im sandblasting a lot of parts. i found out all my swingarm linkage bearings are shot. add another $80. plus my neck tube bearing is shot. another $40. the exhaust wont clear my lower radiator hose so i'm going to have to find the correctly bent hoses for the bottom.

the frame unfortunately wont fit in the blast cabinet so im going to have to sand it or wire wheel it. planning to paint it candy blue. the original color is white.

Is this bike costing you more than what a new one would....LOL

should end up having about 1000 in it, when a good used bike is 1500-2000.

the bike in the video at the top of the page sold for 1500 i believe

a 2013 yz125 is $6290

You shaved your wiseco rod with a dremel?!

no! the case.

how much money do you have in it now?

about 800 so far including everything like the gas can, coolant, and oil.

U must really love spending money

well it started off as a $200 tops project. then little things kept coming up and it all added up but i went for it anyways.

i need to replace the bearings in the neck tube and i cant get the lock nut off. i heated it up with a torch and beat the hell out of it but its stuck. as a last resort i might have to cut it off and look for a new one.

tonight i got the gaskets for the carb so i finished the engine!

also got the electrical box in the mail today so now ive got everything i need to run the engine.

this steering thing has turned into a nightmare. had two 250+lb guys bouncing on the end of a pipe wrench and it barely cracked free then stopped. and the whole shaft bent.

i know i put too much heat on it but that was after many attempts with little heat.

i chopped it off with a sawzall and now i need a new one.

anyways brought the frame back home and im planning to run the engine tomorrow. then take it back out and bring the frame back to school so i can finish working on it, sand it and paint it

argggh.... didnt start. its got spark, lots of compression, not sure if its got fuel. i tried putting some in the spark plug hole but that didnt help. 10 seconds after i turn the gas on it starts pouring out the overflow. i just put all new gaskets in the carb. the previous owner told me it had this problem

Needs new needle and seat.

its got a weird kind of needle and seat. theres two seperate floats on each side that push up on a brass bar with the needle on it. the seat is made of plastic and held into the carb with an o-ring(just replaced).

i think ill start at bending the brass bar. and if it still leaks ill get a needle. it might even be a punctured float?

IT RUNS!!!!!

i read online that if an engines flooded you can turn it upside down and crank it over(spark plug out). i did that and a ton of assembly oil and gas came out. flipped it back over and it fired right up!!!!

as for the leaking carb i adjusted the floats and it doesnt leak anymore!!

time to get the wheels on it!!!
