Quick wiring definition review

* Note: Make sure you have the right Voltage

Power:
This is the connection where the speed controller gets its "power" from the battery

Motor: This is the connection where the speed controller sends the "power" to the motor

Power Lock: This is the connection for the On/Off (key) switch

Throttle: This is where you connect the (0 - 5V) electronic throttle

* Important: All the above are required ;)

I harvested the fuse box out of an old Isuzu NPR truck ;)
SAM_7761.JPG
Then, surgically removed about half of it, to leave a (10) slot fuse box (even has a built-in mounting bracket with a bolt hole)
SAM_7766.JPG
The "small" power circuits (Headlights, Brake Lights etc.) on the Mini-Jeep
...& also, the signal "functions" (On/Off & Reverse) all operate at pack Voltage ~50V
...but, will probably carry less than an Amp :cheers2:

* Except for the Charge Port, which is also pack voltage (~50V)
...but, it may have to convey up to (10) Amps
...so, it will have its own separate & proper fuse :)

So, I'm going to see about incorporating this fuse box into the system
...to provide some sort of Direct Short protection between these "small power & signal" functions
...& the (2kWh) 48V 50AH Lithium batt pack (just in case) :p

** Which most go karts &/or small parade vehicles don't usually have

Bouncin' around again
...but, that's what you do in a Jeep

Cleaned up & painted the suspension parts
SAM_7768.JPG
...& also, cleaned up (before)
SAM_7819.JPG
...& primed the frame (after)
SAM_7820.JPG
* Notice, I added a couple of "cross members" to support & secure the floorboard
...a steering column brace
...& a good-n-strong hood hinge mounting bracket

Still bouncing around
...but, thats what you do in a Jeep :p

Working on switch & instrumentation for the dashboard

Digital speedometer (speed indicator)
Voltage meter (fuel gauge)
On/Off switch (system ignition)
Reverse switch (Forward/Reverse switch)

Here is a potential lay-out, with the instruments & a couple of simple Toggle switches
SAM_7812.JPG
...or with a couple of protective "fancy" switch covers
SAM_7814.JPG
...or with Rocker style switches
SAM_7815.JPG
* Remember there are (2) motors/controllers
...so, we need to "switch" them (On/Off &/or Forward/Reverse) simultaneously

So, we need DPST (Double Pole Single Throw) switches
SAM_7816.JPG
They are basically just (2) separate switches, in the same housing, with (1) common actuation "lever"

What do you think the “top speed” will be? I really like the cover less toggles myself, but I just like the look of metal toggle switches in general.

Top speed "target" ~20MPH (parade speed)
You really aren’t limited to just Jeep Fest. I don’t know about near you but around here you don’t have to drive far for a car show… could be cool. Maybe sometime you can put in another wheel with a keyway and go “off roading”. And if you don’t want to “off road” it, I’m sure @Dingocat would for you! :roflol: 😹🤣😆😝

Yup, I know

Toledo is "Home of the Jeep"
...& we have Jeep shows & stuff just about everywhere
...even Jeep themed bars & restaurants

FYI:
Here is a (home) video I made a few years ago "Me & Desteny take a ride"

It shows me riding my Torsk kart (48V 1,000W motor ~1.2HP)
...& she is riding a kart I built for her (24V 500W motor ~3/4HP)

Most of the ride we are doing ~15-20 MPH (with them little motors) ;)
...& I show her about "Power Sliding" around 5:00 into the video

Torque over horsepower! I’m sure your neighbors like you more than some of us. Only electric, no loud sounds! Why did you so “electrified?”
