I found that Asuza frame and it is 48'' long. That is little! My frames are a little over 72 inches long. That frame must be for kids?

Must be, people have commented on how disappointed they were with the size of it.

I wonder how big of an engine it would handle? I paid 80.00 Us dollars for 48ft of 1-1/4 square tubing and they want 200.00 dollars for that? What a rip off!

Its not actually too bad of a deal. There is quite a bit of welding time in there, although the welds dont look too amazing. I dont think you could get a fab shop to weld it up for less than $200.

Yeah I think you are right that is not too bad for having someone else make the frame for you and welding it up.I just do my own work and I would charge about that much to make a frame like that.Plus someone had to figure it all out so you will have to pay for that too.

Machining a 10 degree pad on the king pin bearing base and here one can see the location of the 3/4 front axle before welding.

Man!!! I wish I has a setup like that..
I would not know what I would do without my mill and lathe. They have gave me great pleasure over the years I have made and repaired many things with them. They go together hand and hand!
And then there is the tooling and vises and rotary tables etc that one must have in order to do different machining jobs.It takes time to get them.

So we worked on my buddies kart again today and I worked on my pipe,We are getting ready for launch out on the lakebed! I machine aluminium spacers for the rear axle and I install them between the wheels and the axle bearings to keep the rear axle from shifting out of place in hard and rough cornering. The last three sections of my header pipe are not tack welded in place so it looks like the joint does not match up but I just sat it there in this location for a snapshot.I need to build the first cone and then I can tack weld that section of the pipe in the needed orentation.

I face off the grade 8 axle bolts so they fit the 10 degree pad on the king pin bases.

Hey thanks,
Having fun doing so!Wait until we light these things up in the desert. It is about survival. These things are not Indy cars. They are for rough service not street cruisers. There is a butt for every saddle my friend!

Here are some shots of my expansion chamber that I am building for my Rotax 277 on my kart.Sorry guys to have so many topics on one post but I have alot going on right now in my garage so I am covering different builds and topics here. The two stage cones are done and now I must make the mid section of the pipe which is the paper mock up pictured here and then I will complete the pipe from there with the reversion cone and stinger and the we will see how she runs! All of the pipe is made from flat .037 sheet metal and I have cut out the sections with aviation shears and I rolled them round with my slip roller.

Yes Sid it is big and it has to be at that point of the pipe.105.3 mm diameter at that paper mid section and the there will be two more sections after that at 330.7 mm each with a total tuned length of 1378.1 mm or roughly 54 inches total length.Remember this is for my Rotax 277 not the JLO engine that you saw the graph of.

ah.. true, remembered a number without the engine ...
Anyways, it's still a looong thing to coil into a karts rear,
even if it's a few cm shorter than the one for the ILO (esperanto for tool or something)

(Attention: hidden hint ahead..)
I really hope it works as intended, can't wait to see that video :D

:cheers2:
