This is the birth of a new kart that I am helping my buddy build and the foundation of my lake bed racer frame design. This one will be powered by a Yamaha Bravo 250 snowmobile engine and we will be building a tuned pipe for it also.He will be racing with me along with others that have ones that they are building right now.I have three different karts that I am building right now in different stages so there was a lot going on today in my shop.I have settled on a tuned pipe design for my super Rotax 277 and I soon will start fabricating the pipe in sheet metal. :wai:

After testing out the JLO engine for my wifes kart I have decided to install my 303 Sachs Wankel on her kart because the engine is so smooth running and without vibrations.
She just as well use it because it is just sitting in my garage so I will save the JLO for something else. The JLO has a lot of low end grunt but at some RPM levels it vibrates my eyeballs and she might not dig that.

So here are some steering components that go to my wifes kart and another fellow lake bed racers kart.I use 5/8 stainless steel round stock for the king pins and the spindle bases are out of steel bushing material. The washers serve as shims to raise or lower the front end for weight distribution to the front end and as one can see I use 5\8 sealed ball bearings as king pin bearings.I will machine a 10 degree axle pad in the bushing material for the front axles to be welded to.This front end is for rough off road service and no it is not light but I have ran the crap out of my kart in the dirt and there is no play in the front end it is about durability for me these karts are going to get used hard.

As am I my friend. The race is on. How many racers are there? If you don't mind me asking.

Four for sure and more show interest and want to spectate and help out.Once they hear, smell, and see us racing they will want to build a kart and race.I have another buddy that has a Rotax 125 kart that wants to race too.As I stated before we will have a night race also. These races are going to be an hour long with a dead engine start with the drivers standing behind the kart and we will wait to hear the start cannon which is a bowling ball cannon and when it goes off the stop watch starts and we will have to start our engines up and take off.

Is that frame modeled off of another style of frame? I swear I've seen karts like that before. Like in plans or something.
