Hmm, while I'm sure you already tried, I cannot seem to recall if you documented that try...

:D

So allow me to ask, have you tried to encorporate a perfect Ackermann geometry,
either by resetting the spindle levers or by making a twin hole pitman arm;
just so, that the wheel angle isn't working against you even in tight corners?
your kart is as sturdy as it could be
(which is unwanted in a racing kart, a race frame will and MUST flex)
and your speeds are definitely comparable,
and because I doubt you can easily get the inner wheel off the ground
(as a racing kart would),
I think you could use all the mathematical help you can get.

Well, okay seeing your arms (about as much much circumference as my legs)
I'm sure you're covered :lolgoku:
but you know... maybe your wife would benefit from a slightly easier steering geometry *shrugs*

Or well I would, when I sneak in and 'lend' your kart one fine day :roflol:

Sid,
I built this kart before I ever found this site and I tried different caster angles before I welded the top frame rails to the front axle beam.I indeed have the correct Akermann geometry on my steering arms.My rear tires do indeed lift off the ground on the inside of the turn that I am taking. My wife and kids and friends have drove my kart many times and even with their little arms they can steer my kart easily all day long.:lolgoku:
You are a long way from my garage but if you wish I can post a video of my rear wheels lifting off the ground.I actually like my handle bar set up because when the course gets rutted up one can control the opposing forces that are encountered through the steering easily so there is a a$$ for every saddle and if you indeed ever make your way to my part of the world I would make sure that we would take the karts out and spend a day or two driving them and then you could see how much fun one can have tearing around out on the lake bed and you would see how well that stiff frame kart of mine handles or maybe you might think that it is a piece of crap but you would have to drive it to know for sure. I can flip that kart around 180 degrees right on a asphalt road and you ought to see the day light under the inside rear tire when I do so.

And I do indeed have a dual hole pitman arm set up.

hehe.. well.. at first I though..
"It's still Bret you're talking to.. if he made it.. he made it RIGHT"
then I tried to confirm said thought and I couldn't
so I asked.. and whaddya guess.. :lolgoku:

I know.. I should've known you better than that by now, even without me finding proof you did it just the way it supposed to be :D

I'm sorry, nevermind me babbling!

Oh and if I ever make it across the pond, be sure you'll be on my "go there!" list :D

Here are some photos of one of my friends kart and his expansion chamber that he built for the engine using the same computer software that I use to make tuned two stroke exhaust expansion chambers.

Moderators, this thread can be locked as I am building my wife's kart in the 2015 build off. Thank you.
