then u can redrill and tap them out

its difficult because every time i hit it with a hammer, rust would pour down and cover me coming from all under the truck LOL

EDIT: ill be buying a gallon of POR15 to finish the job the PO started. the whole underneath will be coated.

the only way u can cut them is by cutting from above u
everytime i press the oxygene i get hot metal rain

use a face sheild to stop the rust getting in your face
u should at least be wearing saftey glasses

Ah yes, cutting off belly pan bolts on a D10 bulldozer. Good fun.

haha yeah they do.. i coudnt get any of the bolts off so maybe this weekend if i have time ill remove the good gas tank, fill the bad gas tank with water, and cut the mounts off with an angle grinder and anything else while im at it.

i probably wont replace the tank, im good with one gas tank. dont need dual tanks. id rather spend the money on parts i need.

^^ Is there holes in the tank or something? I wouldnt think it would need to have water in it... unless its full of holes...

which tank is the good tank? i know on my dads ford the front tank is larger than the rear tank. i think if you do remove one of the tanks you might have to change where the return line goes. i think the return line runs to the opposite tank of the one you are using.

the front tank is the good one. maybe ill find a way to just put the return into the front tank.. its bad if there is gas returning into the leaky tank

My dad has talked about people welding/cutting on a tank FULL of fuel... long as no spark can get to the fuel, the heat shouldnt light it ether... There needs to be a certain ration of fuel to air for it to ignite.

Better safe than sorry though. No sense in trying to be the human torch...

i dont know about you but i really dont want to grind on a gas tank with 25 gallons of fuel in it.. lol

im bringing the truck into school monday! finally. but we have to bring a big cabinet down town today and the suspension isnt fixed yet...

theres only one leaf on the right side and 2 on the left side... its gonna be sagging pretty low haha i just hope it doesnt break

and when u hit a bump at 50 mph the back of the truck almost catches air lol

Oh well at least u can get it sorted now

If the tank is junk then fill it with water

If u have to grind the good tank then fill it with deisel

It is surprisingly hard to set deisel on fire
or the welders at work weld big tanks all the time

If they really have to they fill it with inert gas
CO2 or argon

for some reason them dumb fords seem to like breaking springs. my dads ford had the exact same problem. 2 broken leafs on 1 side and 1 on the other. his also had a coil spring break not far from the top that we had to fix. when you replace your old leaf springs you should keep all the good leafs off the old ones. if you feel up to it you could cut the ends off the old main leafs and stick it under the new main leaf as kind of farm grade add a leaf kit. my 81 dodge ram 150 has an extra 2 leafs on each side and the rear end sits higher even when it is loaded full of stuff.
