Not much space from the lug holes to the machined part of the wheel? There worth something scrap price though.

Not sure if they are unsafe or not. Just said hmmm when I seen that.

to me they look like they would be safe. its not like the machine work changed anything except that it made the hole for the hub larger. they almost look like they have been machined to fit an older dodge truck.

thats strange, he told me they came off a bronco. BTW the ad i posted was the one i made.

bighead, they seem pretty safe, theres still a good amount of material

if the deal doesnt go through with the guy i am talking to then im going to change the ad and add in the machine work thing. thanks for finding that out!

ill be ordering a left side rocker panel, plain sheet metal for everything else, and 2 quarts of POR15 black

for some reason its way more expensive on their website. $50 a quart from them, $33 on amazon

i did some research and found that a quart will do a whole frame and a half quart will do the floor pans inside and out. since my frame is already partly coated, i will be fine with 2 quarts..

Those wheels are probably from a Bronco II. Some 1980-1983 F100's had the 5x4.5" bolt pattern, but it was really uncommon compared to 5x5.5".

Very likely. The BII, Ranger, and other "midsize" Fords use the 5 on 4 1/2". Dead common trailer size, too! Maybe Blue could sell 'em to somebody looking to pimp their tandem trailer....

i hope someone buys these quick... my welder is dying and theres a brand new hobart 125 mig on craigslist near me for $200.

as for the floor i think im going to have to look for scrap sheet metal and construct something. but im still getting the rocker panel for the driver side.

this truck is causing a lot of stress :mad2:

i got a 31 year old dodge that has been beat on and built from many different parts and has caused me less headache than my dads ford. his ford always seems to have something wrong. with how much money we have put into it we could have bought another truck. just today he thought he had a bad universal joint.

Just gonna scab the piece to the frame?

My brother had this guy weld his truck frame, thinking the guy would just scab the piece on... instead the guy actually cut the rusted frame out and replaced it. I didnt see it, but the guy has a reputation being an amazing welder.

i think im going to weld it to the frame, and add angle iron on the top to strenthen it.

then i have that 3"x3"? square tube as a cross member

any other places that i find which need strenghtening i will do so until its strong,,,, then ill coat it and hopefully it outlasts the truck.

You would butt weld it, but instead of having a straight line where the new steel and frame meet, you would cut down about half way, then cut across a ways, then the rest of the way down. This way you have more weld area, and the stress isn't concentrated in a straight line.

Then you would add some fish plates to one or both sides of the joint.

IMO you're going to have to replace more than that. You'll never get a good weld to that metal, I doubt you could grind enough to get down to good steel, all that is left is iron oxide.

i think i might just weld it to the outside of the frame then... as long as it holds the suspension stronger than it was before, im cool with it. also... got a new welder! my old 90 amp flux was dying, it wouldnt feed out steady, liner was shot, a bunch of plastic parts needed to be replaced.

so i was going to get a Hobart 125 mig ready, the store said they had it, but when i went, they didnt.

i got the Hobart Handler 140 MIG. havent used it yet but i set it up. it looks like a solid machine. and it comes with the regulator and hoses for gas, so ill be able to get bare wire and gas weld soon! i looked on craigslist for used MIG's, there was nothing under $600ish... well now im going to be paying back my parents for a while!

i will post a pic when my phone recharges
