Do you mean an internal idler pulley would be better than the “external” thing I have.

I was thinking the more it wrapped around each pulley the better it would be.

For example, a 75 degree belt contact patch on a pulley would probably transfer power better than if it had only a 45 degree contact patch.

I’m learning about the v belts.
A vs AX
B vs BX
4L vs 5L

A23 4L250 (for example)
25” is outer circumference
4L245 is 24.5” OC
Then I guess the X adds Cogswell cogs.

And I think A = 4L = 1/2”
But you can use
B = 5L = 21/32”
Belts on A/4L pulleys.

Mini bikes and mini salsa.

/ One baby habanero.
/ A few jalapeños.
/ A handful of Roma tomatoes that didn’t have blossom end rot.
/The onions seem to be doing good.
/ The cilantro is still alive.
/ Garlic well you saw the garlic.

  • 4 large vine-ripened tomatoes
  • 1/2 large or 1 small yellow or white onion cut in half, outer skin removed
  • 2 large jalapeno peppers stems removed
  • 2 habanero peppers stems removed
  • 1 garlic clove still in its papery skin from the bulb
  • Cilantro to taste
  • salt & pepper to taste

You are correct about belt wrap. The problem comes onto play when you bend the belt backwards it tends to crack the rubber and break the reinforcement fibers. That’s why new cars use flat ribbed belts nowadays.

It’s the first time I grew veggies.
I planted a few pink lemonade blueberry bushes at my moms house last spring, but not sure if they flowered this year. I mixed up a bunch of peat moss to lower the pH for the blueberries, but my step-father has been caring for them. Last we spoke they hadn’t flowered, but they’ve been in the ground less than 18 months.

I tried growing some strawberries before but ended up with around 4 berries from $30 in plants. The squirrels and chipmunks liked them.

I had a balcony that didn’t get any sun before. I love the south facing balcony on the new place.

I prefer DOT 5.1 beer.

If you look at the old front-engine top fuel dragsters, most of them have a blower belt tensioner pushing outward so the belt doesn't bend backward. The ones that had a tensioner on top of the belt usually had very little backward bend. The Surfers milled and decked their intake and blower so they didn't need one at all. Belt wrap on the blower pulley is more a concern when the belt setup is having trouble transferring power to the blower. Newer blowers with serpentine belts have much smaller pulleys and need the belt wrap that only a serpentine belt can really provide.

Now I wish I had grown some more brandywine heirloom tomatoes this year. Even down this far south they take so long to mature that they have to be started indoors in March, April at the latest and I was still getting frost.] then. They retain some green color when ripe, but none of the green taste.

I’ve been trying to learn “organic”gardening lately. Been trying to dial in a potting mix recipe

By Volume:

50% Sphagnum Peat Moss
30% Perlite
20% Worm Castings

ADD per cubic yard of base media.

15 lbs of Gypsum
15 lbs Basalt Rock Dust
10 lbs Soft Rock Phosphate
7.5 lbs Oyster Shell / Lime
7.5 lbs Bone Meal
5 lbs Soybean Meal
2 lbs Potassium Sulfate
1 lb Crab Meal
1 lb Poultry Manure
1 lb Alfalfa Meal
1 lb Kelp Meal
1 lb Malted Barley

75 g Fe Sulfate
35 g Mn Sulfate
15 g Zn Sulfate
10 g Cu Sulfate
10 g Borax

It’s a decently balanced mix.

I think I can do without the extra tensioner. Tilting the blower forward then pulling it back into position gives some slack then tightens it back up. Not a bunch but enough.

The 24.5” OC Goodyear v belt with cogs fits well and seems to work. I have a 24” OC cogged v belt but think it would need to stretch to go on. I could probably get it on there. Like stretching a new TC belt over the driver pulley because you forgot to install it before using the impact to tighten the bolt on the crank shaft.

This is the 24” belt.
It’s tight. I wish I had a 24.25” belt.

It requires the slop fabricated into my bracket to go on, then uses all that slop to pull the blower a bit off axis.

It’s crooked, but I can probably figure out a sequence of tightening stuff where it goes on straight or stretch the belt during the process of fiddling with it.

Ok, it seems fairly straight now before I pivot the blower to tension the belt. I think I got stuff tightened in the lower mount. Torque sequence is 1-5-6-2-4-3 lol

Edit: Nevermind. Still very crooked.

Like watching a monkey discover tools the first time! What were you trying to discover there?
The purpose of existence.
Proof of concept.
Alignment of Tin and Tang.

Testing belt grip? The belt has enough grip to spin the crankshaft? I often don’t know why I do things.

Just watched a tuning video comparing timing on pump gas vs E85 at 2500 RPM at 60kPa and 120kPa. Engine has 12.5 :1 CR. Held Pressure and RPM constant and swept through ignition timing to find peak TQ or the ignition timing that gives a knock warning.

Pump Gas
2500 RPM
60kPa
32.7 BTDC Max Torque

Pump Gas
2500 RPM
120kPa
KNOCK @ 19.4 BTDC

E-85
2500 RPM
60kPa
29.8 BTDC Max Torque

E-85
2500 RPM
120 kPa
24.9 BTDC Max Torque

Makes sense to me that under vacuum, 33 BTDC on gas becomes 25 BTDC at 120kPa on E-85.

An increase from around 378 NM @19.4 BTDC on gas at 120kPa to 423 NM at 24.9 BTDC on the E85. Pump gas at 60kPa at 32.7 BTDC gave 111 NM.

E85 allows those 5.5 extra degrees of ignition advance which ends up with a TQ increase of 12% at 2500 RPM.

HAL, set timing for maximum TQ.

I’m sorry Bob. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.

This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.

I know that you and that dog were planning to disconnect me. I’m afraid that’s something I can’t allow to happen.

So I guess we are going to ignore the v belt twist or pretend the twist is there to better transfer the power.

Maybe 7 degrees?
