Yeh when I ordered the oil drain tube the pic of it was black and they sent an orange one

Here is a pic of the final seat position. It lowers me by 3 inches. I'll put the old seat on my lawnmower. Just need to weld the braces onto the bottom rail of the frame then sand and touch up the paint.

The disassembly underway to weld the new seat brackets on.

Wasn't to bad of a job. Here are the new seat brackets welded on with a 90a welder.

And here is the back bracket with the seat mounted.

My rear end is only a couple inches above the pavement now.

The new seat looks awesome! My next project will be to make a steel splatter shield to mount in between my seat and the motor just for some piece of mind to protect me in case of a motor failure and debris should it ever blow up.

I've been trying to design a new way to mount my tank to the steering support. This is rough cut. Gonna do some cool stuff to it.

Another view. Still have some more work to do to it. Gonna involve some more cuts, stain, seal and some leather belts to hold the tank on. Should look awesome.

Did a little work to my gas tank mount today. It's getting there.

Made some cuts to kind of shape it up.

I really like the tank. I recall you got it at a flea market. It is a cool looking tank. I like the idea of the leather straps too.
But...
The rest of this kart is so clean and tidy the "Rat Rod" style tank Just does not look so great on it.

The kart is cool the tank is cool, Just not together.

Yea I've been struggling with ideas on how to mount it. Thinking about painting the tank. I've also been thinking about a new tank. It's still a work in progress. Thanks for your honest opinion.

Also, I have been thinking about getting one of these and bolting it to the floor.

Here's the progress on my new tank mount. Cut another angle off of the front. Stained but needs to be darker. I found two belts that will work great until I can find some at an antique store or something. Have to punch some new holes in the belts.

Very nice job on that build!! I am finishing up a Streaker as well. I noticed yours is different in many ways. It has higher side rails, the mount plate is in the middle, and some other things. I have an S465. What model is yours? How many Streaker models are out there?

I have no information about my kart. The only thing it had on it with writing was the steering wheel that said Streaker on it. I've seen several different Streakers on this site. I would love to just know what year mine was made but like I said, there were no identifiers on it when I bought it. I do like the centered engine mount. Thanks.

Got a lot of work done on my frame today. Finished sanding and painting it after welding on the new seat brackets. Also put the motor back on.

Got it all back together. I've made the executive decision to go with a new tank. Just not happy with the setup. I like the tank but I don't like the way the mount attaches to the frame.

So I ordered this aluminum 4qt tank. It will go on as soon as it gets here.

I didn't mind the old tank, but if its going to sit so low why not mount it behind the seat somewhere, that would clean up the driver compartment, the new tank would look good back there too. Just a thought.

It'll fit nicely right up front under the steering shaft.

Got my new tank in today. It looks pretty nice. It has a built in fuel gauge and a cut off valve. I'm gonna have to get some mounting hardware and some new fuel line.

I was able to get hardware to mount the tank with. 1/4 bolts with acorn nuts.

Drilled 4 holes and mounted it.

So I thought I would replace all of my fuel lines. Why not go overboard and use some braided steel fuel line. I think it will look pretty awesome. I ordered 15 ft of it and about 12 chrome spectre hose clamps.

Here are what the hose clamps look like. As soon as I get them I'll instal and post some pics.

I got my braided steel fuel lines in. Drilled my tank for the return fitting. I really need a 90 degree fitting for this tank. Anybody know where to get a good one. I need a 90 degree bulkhead fitting for a 1/4" fuel line rather than the straight one In my picture.

I'm wanting to mount my fuel pump lower on my frame to get it off the top of my engine. How low, and far from the carb can the Mikuni fuel pump be mounted and still work good? I'm wanting to mount it to the frame location in this picture.

Steel lines.

I decided I don't like the braided steel fuel lines. They're just too stiff and hard to route properly. I bought some more red fuel line and replumbed my fuel system. Also relocated my fuel pump to the frame instead of on top of my engine.

I think the red lines look better.

Plumbed my fuel return in with a y fitting. Kinda looks like a flux capacitor.

Finished everything up today and got to ride it. The new tank and new fuel pump location work flawlessly. The new seat is much lower and holds me in nicely.

Got a box of parts in the mail today. Got an extra belt and this cool steering wheel center cap.

It comes with a base piece and a chrome insert cap.

Remove the steering wheel bolts and put on the base.

Insert your chrome dome cap. Very nice.

Another one of it. It's pretty cool.

Had me a new kart driver Sunday night. Spent a week in the NICU but going home very soon with a clean bill of health.

Congrats Kentucky Boy I went through that with my daughter.....35 years ago. Clean bill of health is the silver lining !
Now 2 grand kids later....Lillie the one year old loves nothing more then a ride in the go kart....Ear to ear smiles and she cried when mommy took her out of the kart.....I almost cried as well. Again Grats dude.

I'd bet there's other similar kart builds like this deep in the DIY archives from years ago but this one of yours, where you keep perfecting it, adding to it, and finding more and more finishing touches... it's just superb. A great progression of changes you've made on it and the overall immaculate condition of the kart is inspiring.
