Is there nothing you can do as far as county rules & regs? I mean, you went to court because you had a truck in your yard but, this is ok?

hello to the forum.my username(that just don't sound proper anyway I slice it).my biggest issue in life this day was I left the beer in the freezer 2 long ,resulting in the contents coming forth in an undesirable rate of flow requiring me to sip from the surface every 10 seconds or so.as began to ***** within myself I stopped in my tracks ,"oh who the **** am I kidding"i reseaoned to myself and I said life is GOOD this was literally the biggest setback in my day.warning I am told I am prone to think to much I have been told.respond at your risk.

My lawn is just as bad; my 18 year old commercial walk behind mower needs more in repairs than I can afford right now....

On the plus side, I spent a couple of hours down the road at my dad's house, swapping tractors and implements, so the 8 ft brush hog is mounted up and ready to roll in the morning. I'll try to get some before and afters tomorrow......

I doubt it Pat.....the thing is. ...letting your lawn go for a a few weeks....or a few months even.....when you normally keep it mowed....is nowhere near the problem that years of half-azzed upkeep creates....the weed seeds just keep accumulating as do the pests.....

Oh no.....You don't understand. ....when you have a poppy field in your backyard. ....you don't call the cops because your neighbor has a pot plant.....it's not like any thing that I am doing is hurting anyone. ...but much like Dennis' dilemma. ...code enforcement is a beeach to deal with. ...especially with non-permitted structures. ...it's not like they are going to look next door and not see over a 3'chainlink fence......

So I head out this morning on a mission....to pick wild mustang grapes to make jelly.....and I stop at my usual corner store for gas....while inside....I decide to get some cigars.... (the little 3-4 for .99 or 1.99 packs)....they are right behind where the counter is open so I have just gotten in the habit of stepping in there and grabbing as I always get 2 or 3 different kinds and it's iust much quicker and easier that way......nobody has ever said anything before. ... (including this little sheet.....and I know I have done it a couple of times before in front of him)....so as I put them down on the counter he says: "Listen.....you don't go beehined thee counteer!"

So I kinda shrug that off...and figure. ...whatever. ..I just wont do it when this newbie is on shift....So then I say...I'm going to fill up...can you turn on the pump?

This idiot looks at me and says: "Hoow mooch gas due you wunt?"

I want to fill up.

"So hoow mooch izz dat?"

So now I'm pissed......"How in the **** should I know? ???? Can you tell me how much it's going to cost to fill your car BEFORE you do it?"

"Yes $40- $45 ....within one dollar or two..."

Now I'm thinking. ....yeah you must always wait till you hit "E"....is it still $40-45 if you have 1/2 a tank?.....but I'm done arguing with this she-ite head.....

Then he says :"Iv you dount tell me how mooch....how can you pay..."

So I slap down a hundred and say...."With this.....now turn the **** pump on....when it stops...I'll come back in and get my change!"

"Please be quiet. ...."

Now I haven't raised my voice once.....cussed...yes.....

So now I say: "Listen- I can get these **** cigars and gas anywhere. ...but I can also get your job....I've been coming here longer than you've been breathing. ...so shut up and turn on the ****ed pump!"

I go pump gas and come back in. ....

"Listen.....you don't come back here. ..you come back ...I call thee cops....you want to bee nice....ok....but you don't do like that. ....."

"Give me my change and shut the "f" up before I come around that counter for the second time today!"

I am going to be talking to the manager and owner........ (end of rant).....

Well this is my neighbors backyard. ...I'm about sick n friggin tired of it......I jumped the fence and started hacking off limbs...you can see what the beggar weed seeds did to my legs.......this is how my cat comes in. .....

I'm a patient forgiving person.....but this is getting old......

Is that your house under the tree there?? :D

My lawn is just as bad; my 18 year old commercial walk behind mower needs more in repairs than I can afford right now....

Good fence, Good neighbor......
I made a phone call this morning I've been dreading for months...
Seems my dear mom gave a neighboring cattleman permission to use a large idle family farm and run his cows on it. This fellow must have assumed it was his to use as he pleases as long as he wished. He's plowed flat terraces and cut down trees that I considered property boundary trees. Trees in Texas painted purple denote boundaries. He's been using it payment free for years now. While my family has absorbed the tax payments.
I told him that his stay was at a end, time to rebuild fences he's torn down that we're never his to begin with. He informed me rather quickly and with great attitude that he wouldn't be repairing anything and that the county where this property was located was considered open range. Meaning its upto the individual land owner to keep cows off their property. Not the cattle owners job to keep cows on his own land. Makes sense when you think about it, would cost a fortune to build a fence no cow no matter what its disposition couldn't push through. Definitely takes the earnings for raising cattle away.
Trick is, my family owns Farm to Market Road frontage on this very parcel. This frontage is only 20 feet. It can't be fenced, gated, or blocked in any way to prevent entrance into the property by anyone but the owner of said property. It can also be opened up at that property owns will. No gate, no fence, no mound of dirt or wall or row of lil pink tricycles or trees. This goes for the WHOLE property. So anyone could drive, walk, skip, crawl, prance on tiptoe in or out at their will. And, any fat brown sad eyed cow could certainly do the same shake, shimmy or twist and flip the heck out onto the Farm to Market Road at their bovine whim also.
Here's the catch, a cow on a road hit by a motorist is a huge deal breaker in Texas if that cow owner hasn't made the attempt to build a fence to keep his cow off the highway. and, its not up to his neighbors. Its up to the individual that owns the cows 100%. I told him as much out first phone call.
Our second phone call was pretty short. I guess i seemed more believable after his call to his attorney or jailhouse lawyer or mom or whomever he called to confirm i could yank down that entry gate at will. He's going to be working on new fence where needed and wants permission to cut down any trees that might be on or near property lines. I look forward to working with him and us getting to know each other. Hopefully he'll give me a chance to help a lil with a new fence. Hate to see a guy work his butt off and only get to prosper from half his hard work.
I'm done with y'all now, hard to get all this organized n readable with the amount of coffee in me that I've been swilling since I started it. I'm shaking like a chihuahua crapping peach pits. I'll retread it later, if it needs tweaked tell me if there's something ya don't get.

Woke up late, got to work an hour and a half later. Yelled at a lazy machinist helper who does everything BUT help us machinists. Almost yanked him off the forklifts by his little neck, just so he knew I meant business. :censored::censored::mad2: an office worker came over to "handle" it.... Get to working and forget the time, miss the dam taco truck..... :censored::censored::censored::mad2:
Get to working again...... Now I finish with a connection, and go to gauge it. The gauge gets stuck... I break the key in the handle trying to unscrew it, using the over head crane.... $3500 gauge stuck in a customers $800 piece of steel stock.......
:censored::censored::mad2:
Not having a good day so far...... Here is a pic..... Trying to cool it off so ican freeze the gauge with dry ice.it might shrink it enough to pop it loose...... I hope..... Or next step is to inform the customer I'm going to cut my gauge out of his stock, and will be losing about 3" of overall length......... :censored::mad2:

Got it out..... Had to freeze it.... I stuffed the gauge with dry ice and waited 20 minutes. Then, with tension on tbevwrench from the overhead crane, I put a little heat to the stock. It popped loose in about 30seconds...... :wai:
And now back to your regularly scheduled reading......

Glad to hear you got that guage out......you remind me of Tom Cruise......I don't like you when you're angry......:surrender:

Mine was Wednesday. ...wide belt sander....first time I ever used one.....the boss lines me out on how it works. ....how to use it....and what happens when you emergency stop it.....There are 3 ways that activate the emergency stop....a panic bar at the front of the machine.....an emergency red stop button on the control panel. .....or if you open the door that lets you change belts or adjust the platen while it's running. ...

So I'm running boards through that have been dimensioned 1/32 over 3/4" thick....

Long story short. ....he said you don't use the platen to dimension material. ...only to remove sanding marks......well obviously it's got to remove material to do that. ...the question is how much.....

Well I had done everything he told me..... (including something he came up with. .....running the boards askew....)...... (easier on the rollers.....whatever dude....)......so that is exactly what destroyed the belt....I was dimensioning without the platen engaged. ....running boards askew....the first piece of base I ran through left a horrible funky pattern that I didn't realize until later could only be caused by a torn belt.....I ran all the boards. ...then engaged the platen as I only had one 128th " of material to remove.....I wanted to mike how much material the platen removed for future reference. .....plus....not familiar with the increments turning the table handle raises the table. ...I didn't want to turn it and go under 3/4.....

Anyway. ...the belt let go....he was using a joiner that is right next to the sander......and 10' away to my left is the dust collector. ...I'm in the middle. ..I can hear something is not right. ...but I'm not sure where it's coming from. ..my boss has the advantage because he's 3' from the sander to his right ear.....I look at him bewildered and he says "Shut it down!!!!" I hit the panic bar. ...hit the control panel button. ....then turned off the air.....

He comes around inspecting the machine. ...sees half a belt intact and the other half shredded....then he sees the platen is engaged. ...."I told you. ...you don't use the platen to dimension material"...then he says...."Why is the air off?" I told him I turned it off....so he tells me that's not how you stop the machine. ....I told him 3 times I stopped the machine before I turned off the air.....he wouldn't believe me.....I didn't do anything wrong but got my butt chewed and told that belt cost over $100......

I don't mind getting chewed out when I screw up. ...but when I follow someone's directions. .. (that go against my way of thinking. ....) then things go south....it's really hard to take........rant over....IT'S FRIDAY! !!!!

That's what I told my boss, when I called him over to show him the predicament I was in..... He laughed....
This gauge gets stuck quite often, in my machine.... The current handle is one that I made to replace the "factory " handle it came with. Last year, I snapped that thing in 2 like it was a tooth pic...... Our 6&5/8 full hole plug gauge will do the same thing. Its been stuck probably more times than the 7&5/8 regular in the pics. These are 4 pitch threads, one on 2 tpf and the other is 3 tpf, but both have a thread depth of .1478....... These connections get torque to over 80,000 lbs...... Very strong...

Jim, I caught your first two posts just before I had to punch in, so I couldn't respond.... I'm glad you were able to salvage things....

I've got one tale that had bad day written all over it....

Where I work, we make propellers; the first operation after they leave the foundry proper is to bore the hub. We have multiple CNC lathes of different size capacity, most with duplicate back up. Guess which one has to commit suicide? The one we don't have a back up for. (One of the oldest)

While the hard parts are available (in theory), it's the quoted 8~10 month delivery window that had the front office decide to take the ~$40,000.00 price quote for the parts, and use it for the down payment on the brand new Doosan that lands some time next week......
