So it's summertime here.....the cicadas have been singing...we've been in a drought for awhile. ...almost hit 100°f...every day for the last couple of weeks......plus we get wind....helps a little for us humans. ...but it's rough on the plants....dries them out worse.....

The chiggers, grasshoppers, aphids and spidet mites have been doing well and putting even more stress on the plants. Whiteflies have been attacking all the grapevines....even the weeds are having a rough time. ....

So now for the good stuff. ....it rained today and there is a chance of rain all week.....And with that some milder temps.....more like spring.... I just walked out to the garden....and had to be very careful where I walked. ....because the tadpoles are leaving the pond....and there were tiny toads everywhere. ....

Last week. ...I saw a Mexican freetail bat flying up and down my driveway. ...chowing down on moths.....been seeing a blue-belly. ... ( Western Fence lizard).....a few dragonflies. .....and baby praying mantis and lady bird beetles. ... Saturday. ..I saw a hummingbird. ... (not a bug eater....but I love seeing them).......

So. ...all in all. ...pretty decent. ....stuff......

:smiley_omg: POBOY DO YOU LIVE IN THE JUNGLE!!!!!!

Im lucky if I see a lizard .......... In the zoo

Nope....just Texas.....I used to have a healthy green anole population and a really booming gecko population........I think this last winter wiped out the anoles and seriously knocked down the numbers of geckos. ....I'll get them back up......

I haven't found any baby snakes this year either. .....by backyard isn't a jungle. ...but it's a zoo at times.....I have opposums and at least one huge raccoon that live back there......

I like possums. ...I fed them sometimes and I don't even get that upset when they help themselves to my melons...... I really wish another young armadillo would show up. ....because I am kinda wanting another one for a pet.....they make neat pets......possums don't. ......although either one is cheap to feed....and possums potty train pretty well..... ( cat litter box ).....you can't train them to come to you like an armadillo. .....

Oh well ...for now it's just the forever hungry red-eared slider, the huge stray cat, and the 5' rat snake.........Until another pet shows up. .....

It's cold here too, probably a bit colder than Paul but, still not as cold as Canada in the winter...

We've had one or two nights where it got down to 0°C (which is still 32°F)

Did you know that's what squirrels and monkeys have in common. ......when it gets that cold ....both of them start holding on to their nuts.......

For anyone who is new to the forum, there's times when we just can't take Doug anywhere. And based on some of his other posts in the last day or so, I'm half expecting that our site admin, Robert, will be getting a phone call from the White Settlement PD, asking about his menagary and "Why was he wearing that?!?!?"

That is about what we are experiencing at the moment. When you live in a place that doesn't get snow, anything close to 0°C is COLD

No, 0* is definitely cold ( well maybe just chilly :D) It's been dropping down to 12-13 degrees during the night here lately and I wouldn't want it to get any cooler, especially since its still the middle of summer.

They only held me overnight for the DIY sticker pasties.....but they did call an emergency session of the city council. ......to enact some new statue. ....I have no idea why. ....

Ouch!!!!!!!...Just found out my nephew... (who lives in Ft. Worth) went to Bristol race track in Tennessee last week-end.... (beautiful track).....BUT. ...

He blew up his motor.....which caused his tranny case to split....which spit something out that took out his left slick......I'm guessing this happened pretty early in his pass.....because he didn't put it in the wall or roll it......so that's lucky......

But the engine, trans, and even slicks on a 9 second 1/4 mile car add up to a hunk of change. ....but thankfully he's fine and so is the rest of the car....and he said he and the wife had a great time there.....

"Other than that Mrs.Lincoln. .....how did you like you like the play??"

:funnypost: Sounds like good times..... But maybe too many :cheers2::cheers2::cheers2:? LOL j/k....
Glad he is okay. A friend of mines father in law did something similar. The right rear slick blew out just past the 1/8 mark, and was pretty much SHOT into the concrete retainer. Car came out pretty good considering. The father in law was un hurt, thanks to todays safety advances. His nova is sub 9's.....I think around 8.4... And only a shot of 125 off the line , and a ramped 175 through 2nd. It's a 10 footer (looks great from 10feet) , but is all business inside.....

My lawn is just as bad; my 18 year old commercial walk behind mower needs more in repairs than I can afford right now....

On the plus side, I spent a couple of hours down the road at my dad's house, swapping tractors and implements, so the 8 ft brush hog is mounted up and ready to roll in the morning. I'll try to get some before and afters tomorrow......
