A continual from a previous project that just never got done:

http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=36970

A year ago this project came to a halt after the bureaucracy of the Motorsport put a dampener on my enthusiasm.
The short version of the story is that the kart that intended to restore & race no longer was "suited" to run an any commercial track.

My wife (the one that has the final say), gave me an ultimatum regarding the amount of projects that i can have at a time.
The twin engine go-kart being the one with the most dust had to go!!

Unless... (the power of negotiation) I make it more suitable for every body to use.......

Solution:

Make it go off road & make it safe.

List of thing to do:
1) Fit off road rims & tires
2) Change drive train to suit larger tires (fit a jack shift)
3) Fit roll cage
4) Fit larger seat with headrest

So here we go again...

Sounds like we have the same wife. I wanted to make this Manco Dingo into a one seater monster buggy, now its a getting converted to a two seater monster buggy and still keeping with the ATV suspension front and rear. Lots to build on it!

I definitely see potential in yours and look forward to seeing more!

In other words you are making it "PRINCESS APPROVED" :lolgoku:
My girlfriend when she wants to ride something mini bike or whatever she just kicks the kids off of it and rides it. :roflol:
Putting a roll cage on that will make those Lions work for that meal kinda like one of those dog chew toys with treats in the middle. Seriously you do some of the coolest builds.

Having a second person on board is WAY more fun, having turns at a obstacle or just sharing the experience.
The other advantage of having a second person on board is help with pushing it back home!! :lolgoku:

I cant wait to see your finished project...

Thanks for the comments Denny, the challenge is always pushing through and finishing a project.
Its the last 15% that always tends to derail an entire plan.

This one i WILL finish !!

Yea that last 15 or 20% is the killer for some reason. Just power through.

Parts ordered:

3 X 15 Tooth 08B Sprockets
3 X 40 Tooth 08B Sprockets
1 X 5 Meter 08B Steel Chain
4 Master links

I decided to replace the existing sprockets & clutch sprockets to a "standard" available chain type.
The original chain & sprockets are a #219 ??? only available from specialist cart racing suppliers. (specialist implies unjustified inflated prices)

Still going with a jack shift, 15-40-15-40 Ratio.

Additionally the Jack-shift will be on my own "adjustable" bearing hanger, this will allow me to tension the chain down to the rear axle.

Will need to modify the clutches that I bought two years ago to take the new 08B sprockets.

Both brand new carburetors leaking???
I dont get it??...
It seems that both carburetors float needles are getting stuck? Gravity fed from a single tank, standard 93 Octane fuel.
Disassembled both floats, cleaned both seats with carb cleaner...
What am i missing?
Are both over filling ?

Despite both carburetors leaking past the needle and seat, and denying me the first spin...its 99%complete.

Ok, not sure why no one replied, but I'd make sure all fuel lines are hose clamped, make sure carb vents are working, and REPLACE the needle/seat assembly.
Cleaning won't do much, but the actual parts can go bad.

P.S - What are those mufflers from?
