Man. I buy the better hiking shoe from Walmart for under 40 bux. Then head to the insert section and buy the ones with the solid arch supports and jell heel. Thats for my non working feet.
For work I get the Irish setters. Kinda a mix between a cowboy and wally boot.
I want the high cuff for keeping stickers and dirt out, no laces for same reason. They get the same insoles.

Ive heard that you make good on what ever keeps you from the ground, shoes, tires, mattress.
But sometimes you just gotta go barefoot in the grass.

My biggest issue is, trying to find boots that are both comfortable and last a long time. Automotive work really does in footware, compared to welding or landscaping.

Steel or composite long as it meets ANSI standards. I just bought Ariat Timberland 8" steel toe. They have been decent so far. I was dumb and stacked my Dr Scholls insoles under the Ariat ones and ended up scuffing the back of my heels to the point of bleeding.

Far too many have dropped heavy items on their feet over the years, so they definitely want some protection. I've always preferred steel toe, but have tried composite before.

I'm on concrete floor 8-10 hours a day. Standing the whole time. We are supposed to wear leather shoes with steel or composite toe. I wear New Balance Tektrel tennis shoes in the summer months. Most comfortable tennis shoe I've ever worn. Started wearing boots again this week with the cooler temps. I prefer boots, but I gets damn hot in the plant in the summer. My feet would kill me back in the day. I have a couple par of the Red Wing Irish Setter Wingshooter boots. Super comfy and tough. They do get a little warm after a while. Carhartt Rugged Flex boots are also very comfortable. Have a few pairs of them also. The Red Wings are around $240 a pair, but well worth it if you can. The Carhartts around $125 and worth every penny as well. The Propper series 100 tactical boot is also super comfy. I have a few of those as well and only around $100 but no safety toe. One thing I don't cheap out on is footwear. I rotate through all my boots depending on the day. Don't get me started on winter, hunting, hiking and Muck boots. I have a ton of boots, but they last me forever and something for every situation. I might have a boot problem. 😂

For a few months, years ago, I tried out Indestructibles steel toed shoes. Those lasted me maybe 4 months tops. They were very light weight. But they just didn't hold up.

You sound like my wife and her shoes for every occasion.

Yes, I admit I've got a footwear problem
They're always on my mind
My memory goes round and round
I've tried to quit a thousand times
Yes, I admit I've got a footwear problem
Fill the boot up to the top
I'll start with loving them
But I don't know when to stop

This is a fun hobby. Though some take it far too seriously. The ones with a blank cheque really kind of take the fun out of it at times.
